Falling Snow

Outside the snow is falling
The children are sleighing
Sometimes they start snowballing
Outside the snow is falling
“Dinner is served”, their Mom is calling
The children don’t hear what she’s saying
Outside the snow is falling
The children are sleighing!

Life On the Farm

Life is fun down on the farm
Though the work is often hard
Folks know how to turn on the charm
They raise their food in their yard!
Farmers feed the people on the boulevard
They never do anybody any harm
Farmers hold others in high regard
Your worries they will quickly disarm
You will quickly let down your guard
As they fill up your arm
With the food they raise in their own yard.

I Love Spring

It''s great to see the leaves again
To see the flowers grow
Spring excites me so
I love the freshness of the rain
I can shake off winter's aches and pains
As I listen to the March winds blow
Spring is a wonderful time I know
Spring is here to keep me sane
Now I hear the red robin chirp
I see the sun shining bright
I want to play and not work
Out in the pretty sunlight
Where life is new and pure
I love Spring of that I'm sure!

The Centurion

He hated his posting here;
Rome had sent him here as punishment;
He was sure of that;
These people were a stubborn lot;
He hated them most of all;
Then he met the prisoner.
He was supposed to be some kind of king.

Pilate had interviewed this man;
Now the other guards were mocking him;
They fashioned a crown of thorns for His head;
They forced it upon him;
Blood came pouring down;
Yet the king didn't utter a sound.

The guards stripped the king;
They placed on him a purple robe;
The mockery was intense;
Yet this king was different in some way;
He didn't utter a sound.

Then they began to beat the king;
The centurion simply watched;
This was no ordinary man;
The man simply offered them his back;
Then the centurion heard the man pray;
The man was forgiving his captors!

Pilate had ordered the man to be crucified;
So they led the figure out;
He was now beaten and battered;
Could He even carry the cross;
The centurion wished it was all over;
This prisoner didn't deserve any of this.

The centurion made another man carry the cross;
Soon they topped the hill;
Here they stripped the prisoner;
They laid Him on the cross;
As they drove the nails;
The centurion heard Him pray;
He was forgiving them for killing Him!

The centurion had heard of this prisoner;
He now remembered Him well;
The prisoner claimed to be the Son of God;
He had performed many miracles;
The centurion wished to see one now;
He wished the man would come down from the cross!

The sky around them began to darken;
The centurion watched the man on the cross;
The man looked at the centurion;
"I love you and forgive you",  written in His eyes;
The centurion's heart was breaking inside;
The man on the cross breathed His last.

The earth rattled as an earthquake struck;
Tombs opened and dead men walked;
The centurion was oblivious to it all;
He seen only the dead man on the cross;
His knew now within his heart;
He had crucified the Son of God.

The Deer and the Lion

The Deer and the Lion

The deer climbed to the top
The hill was long and steep
At times it had to creep
The rocks would outcrop
It would not stop
It would not sleep
Its life it wanted to keep
It felt like it would drop
Yet stopping meant sure death
For the lion was close behind
It could barely catch its breath
Sanctuary it had to find
It could lose the cat on the other side
It had to get there to save its hide.

Prey

The deer topped the hill
It breathed in the mountain air
A tiger approached unaware
Its belly it wished to fill
The deer it planned to kill
Hunger was the tiger's only care
The deer would not have time to prepare
The tiger would take it standing still
It was the way of the wild
Of this there was no doubt
Life could not be fun and mild
Survival was what it was all about
The tiger would live today
The deer would become its prey.

The Haves and the Have Nots

In life there are those haves and those who have not
We are told there will always be poor people in life
Yet poverty causes me so much strife
In life.

I hate being so poor
I cannot take it any more
There has to be success in store.

I see the want in the eyes of my wife
My child's hunger cuts like a knife
There has to be an end of this strife
In life.
