David Grasby Poem
Lost love gone
Pain found
An empty room
So many thoughts
So peaceful
So secret
A man scarred
Sits upon his bed
With a wand he writes
Lets it all hang out
A gift given
A way to express
He sits
Wonders about the future
Can he make it?
Show the world his inner self
Find love
Find happiness
Rejoice till life comes to an end
A Poetry-man writes
Witnesses the world
Explores himself and others around
Scared he is
Claims to know all
In essence knows nothing
Wants so much
Realizes he can't have it all
A Poetry-man writes
Tries to make sense of his world
Discovers many hidden feelings
Searches for words to explain
Desperation he feels
Angry words he speaks
A twisted tongue he talks with inner love he may have
Outer love he cannot see
A Poetry-man writes
Needs to experience it all
Discover him discover her
Loneliness he knows all so well
A monster he sees himself as
A Poetry-man wonders with words
Ponders ideas
Writes endlessly till time stands still.

David Grasby Poem
Inspiration is perspiration
You struggle to connect
You trip over your words
Your mind seems blank
Times are changing
Can't put it into terms
The willingness to except what lies ahead
Chasing after goals
Blindsided by fear
A direction set in stone
Lost I seem
These repetitive days get longer and longer
Stronger I seem
But where's the motivation
Sweating the facts
Chasing this relentless breeze
My legs weary, My eyes wrinkled
Shades of yesterday no longer protected by
Simply put I am not the same
Not sure how to tame me
Want to put the blame on you
By you I mean them
Those deep dark secrets that refuse to fly free.

David Grasby Poem
Gay is the straightest word
It takes a stand
Says I am different
But I do not care
I love the one I love
I have a connection
I know how to touch that emotion
Gay is happy
Gay is strange
Gay we fear
Gay is the straightest word
Stands for everything we believe in
Love is love
Love is true
Just the same
A bond
A foundation of family
Everything straight is everything loved between a guy and girl
Gay is a beautiful relationship between two individuals made as one
Standing strong in the face of anger
Taking on religion
Gay has every right
Deserve the same treatment
Recognize it's love
Straight love makes a person gay beyond belief

David Grasby Poem
Fifty six years of woodworking our crafts of life together
There were sacrifices and triumphs
Three little dreams ago our life became complete
Then the sands of time emptied for you
Now I sit and ponder my decisions
Scared they were wrong; lost in grief for you.
Some days are harder then others
My surroundings remind me of how much I miss you
Can't get distracted, won't stay busy, thoughts cascade across my tears.
A love so pure A heart so hurt
I know he is going to take care of you
As you take care of us from the lights of heaven.
I love you always and forever seventy-five years to the day my sweet angel of the sky.
For Mother and Wife.

David Grasby Poem
We all have a gift
Wrapped up tightly
Secured by our emotions
Hidden away from the outside world
Some may believe we are not worth giving
We may believe we need to be returned
A pretty box may be what they see
But an empty soul may be all it contains
Do you dare unwrap your gift
Unleash it out into the world
With no guard
with no safety net
In the middle of a crowded street
Do you dare peel the hurt back for all to see
Do you vow to be the lone wolf forever more
Run astray from the pack
Feel you don't fit in
Rush to an end before there is a beginning
Beyond every pair of eyes is a story
and every gift that is unwrapped
no matter how ugly how hurt or how lost
There is someone out there willing to unwrap it
and love it for who or what it is now and will become later
For all you lone wolfs out there you are not alone in your struggles
and love does not run from you; you run from it..
I use to be the one running....

David Grasby Poem
Let's go see
This maybe all we need
Roads wide open
Hearts a racing
This time is now
This dream worth chasing
I hold you close
You guide my eyes
You made up my heart
Time to let me be
Seems so yesterday
Those wonder years
This place was all I needed
But something lead me astray
Caught in a moment
No chance of changing
Won't rethink all that has happened
I hold you near
You make up my soul
Life is about reliving
I can't take that anger away
I can't make you see
All i will do is make you believe
Let us go see
What is in store
Shed no tears
Because your baby I'll always be
Hold me close and you shall see
How proud i will make you be
Let's just go see how your love will grow

David Grasby Poem
Catch me as I fall
Lost amongst a foreign tongue
But feel so home
Strings of the guitar tingle
As we listen to the music of family
Different notes carry our tune
But in perfect rhythm we seem
Life so pleasant at this time
No worries No cares
We sing our praise
Blessings a many
Time so short
Let us cherish these treasures
For these are riches of the old and fortunes of the new
Here's to family
May it sing forever more in our hearts.

David Grasby Poem
On the turntable I spin these songs
Memories of my life
From Floyd to Zepplin
My scars run deep
As I watch that black circle spin
The labels all different
All unique lessons in life
Expectations lost along the way
As the tunes play in these old ears
I think about things I should have done
Directions I avoided because of fear
From Hysteria to New Jersey
Love lost and gained
No sense of accomplishment
Lost in insecurity
A mark for society
A beat down of confidence from all angles
I lost touch of me
I was a mere boy in a young man's skin
Lost track of life
Nowadays I spin past the regrets
Lift the needle of despair off
I focus on the music of my life now
Two beautiful kids and a wife of 14 years
I still spin those vinyl to reminisce and hold to some part of my past
The future is full of reissues with better results
The turntable of life will spin to the end and I will enjoy every label I see
and carry on with positivity and love for my family and the friends that come once in a great album.

David Grasby Poem
The Oregon trail of tears
That faithful morn
Ten lives lost forever
A senseless crime
Ode to the ordinary
An expected trend
When will it change
A call for gun control
Outspoken rage
Time for order
Time for a change
Tougher laws
Tougher checks
Is this the answer
We questions the motives
How could someone do this
How many more tears need flow
How much blood shed is it going to take
We need to open our eyes to the real issues at hand
A gun can't cause the wound its the forgotten souls that take aim
The bullied, the unloved, the strange, and the hurt.
This needs to be the concern not the gun or the bullets
The root of the problem needs to be nourished
I am sorry for the losses my prays are with those families
We all need to grow and see that taking the gun out of the hand is not going to solve it all.
I hope someday we will see that.

David Grasby Poem
White walls so plain like myself afraid of change scared of a little color.
So dull, so much the same, bound from the outside world, so many tears cried behind these walls; so much heartache; so much fear locked under these walls.
If white walls could talk; what would they say? They say how much they hurt, how they wish for something better, how they know they are not accepted, all the dreams they could tell all the nightmares they have lived.
How many wishes wished for; all their emotion tucked away under the seams; how much hate they have for themselves.
If white walls could speak do you really think you could let them talk and actually listen to what they have to say, and even grow to love their true color.
"So many colors it takes to make white"
