A Moment In Time

A moment in time..

I saw you across the room the other day,
Much like another time when you held my gaze,
Pulling me in with one passing glance
Our longing eyes betraying thoughts, that this might be another chance
This is crazy I thought, we both surmised and laughed.
Looking away, looking back again, can anyone else see what’s going on?
This moment of desire shared between you and me,
Embracing the what ifs and what would be?
Two strangers living separate lives, intertwining paths in space and time
Connecting in ways we could not explain
The thought of one touch occupying all senses
Haunted by the what could have been
If I would have been, the one to say I do
We recently shared a moment in awkward conversation
Trying to be informal and coy, But what we really wanted was to
Wrestle with the deep mysteries of each other.
The woman in you celebrating the man in me
The man in me praising the woman in you, the beauty of you
With your long hair and misty eyes, just something about the way
You look at me, makes my body leap inside, and weep at the same time.

Where were you from? What was your name?
The love from my youth is one and the same,
Has it been that long? Forbidden romance lost in memory
Something of a glimpse captured in remembrance,
Yes! You found me in my misery long ago
Wanting to love me out of a misguided childhood,
Only to be met with at the time, a beautiful mess
We shared intimate conversation, falling for one another
As words fell from our lips, an exchange of hopes and dreams
We fulfilled a need in one another, drying tears from each other’s eyes
For a season,
But momentum drove us on separate paths, on distant shores
I watched you fade away, like a fog across the bay.

Do I have regrets and will I have regrets?
Sure I do, and yes I will,
I didn’t have the words to tell you then, what pride refused to say,
That you meant more to me than handholds on a treacherous mountain,
That your tenderness broke through layers of bitterness left untouched,
And that now, like before you shake the foundations of my very being,
Only you have been able to reach me there.
Shall we embrace this forbidden love? Build a future out of broken lives?

You have yours and I have mine, what will become of us if we pursue?
Sometimes true love is never meant to be shared, if it decimates
The only thing you know to be true, what is real and what is now
And the impact a dream can have.
So when I see you now, at least for the moment I can believe and know
Your okay and that life has treated you well and that you’re happy,
We can find peace in our circumstances, the way we found each other again.
And smile remembering that once we shared a moment in time..

To Look At You

To look at you… by Steve Hudson

Woman come alive at my touch
Respond to the caress of my hand,
Be yourself and more,
A mystery shrouded in wonder you are,
Surrounded in deep love and beauty,
I pursue you in fearless abandonment
Giving you my all
Captured by your eyes, your hair,
The curve of your body in sensual pose,
You were designed to draw me in,
Into the place of togetherness
To live as one in physical, in spirit and emotion,
Let it not be at my hand, the downcast of
Your disposition,
Let it not be at my hand the ordinary way of living
Nor the routine of every day boredom
But adventure and passion at every turn,
Embracing this union in daylight,
The way we embrace each other in the throughs of ecstasy at night,
Noble creature, delicate and bold
Take this hand today,
The way you took it yesterday,
And let us walk in sacred unity for the Glory of tomorrow.

The Crucible Savant

The crucible savant.. by Steven Hudson
(Crucible: A place or situation in which concentrated forces interact to cause or influence change or development.
  Savant: a person of learning…)

Through sleepless, hopeless nights
With liquor on breath and dull head
Alone and cold in lay,
We made our passage to manhood,
Many days in suffer and want
Through tears and hardness of heart,
With sorrow for cellmates
In a prison self-made,
Rather hunger and want
Then submission to those above,
Wild wanderlust thrust us into darkness
Uncertainty of survival, without care,
Knowing no other way,
We strove to understand the deeds done to us in violence,
Shiver, quake, lie awake, as hopelessness covered us like a blanket,
Thieves and murderers as strange bedfellows,
Ladies of the night for use and forgotten,
Laws of the land forsaken,
In desperate want, Never knowing if we’d awaken,
Making our way through this world
Boys living as men,
We threw the line, heaved and toiled
In bright sun and fear,
With hands and feet against the frigid snow,
We lived beyond the breaking,
Many before us have sought their manhood,
While others have had it thrust upon them,
Much has been learned, much has been taught
By the flames and the fire, the crucible savant,
It has been our right of passage
Through bloodstained cloth and scars,
The fathers who came before us, live forever in the Arms,
Painted grey, now I see, the path laid out for me,
By the Infinite Son, whose Glory was won,
Making the savant, a reflection of Thee..

When a Man Loves a Woman

When a man loves a woman..

He listens to how she’s feeling more than what she’s saying,
He will put her needs and desires before his own,
He will let her into his heart, and work to get into hers,
He will reinforce her as a woman, build her up, and encourage her to take risks,
She will know he always has her best interests in mind,
She will be confident in her endeavors knowing she’s supported and loved,
Her beauty and desire will never be a question, in her own mind,
Because her beauty and desire will always be mentioned and nurtured,
She will know the relationship is worth more that the conflict,
She will know she’s cherished, because she feels cherished in the comfort of his arms,
He will make her a priority in life,
He will be inclusive and inviting
She will be able to trust him with her most intimate thoughts,
And know it will never be used against her,
She will feel free to express herself and be vulnerable with him
He will kiss her with all the passion of the first time,
He will do all this and more,
Even when the color has faded from their very first photograph,
He will do this and more because he loves his woman.

Love Feast

Love feast by Steven Hudson

I have looked upon too many scarred, sullen and hard faces these many days.
Loud, crude, gruff men who take and push and fight.
This ship has run its course, sleepless, tossed about,
Every port and harbor, sea and foreign land.
My companions smell and to look at them would make you turn down.
I’m pretty sure I have a tapeworm and my piss is the wrong color.
So my love, when here at last I see your face,
You’re smile, piercing eyes, and silky long hair,
To gaze at you now is a love feast to behold,
And from now and forever you will always be…..
The most captivating golden retriever I have ever seen.

Missed It-One Day At a Time

One day at a time
With the delusion of anger,
falling from my eyes,
The veil of bitterness,
Torn from the one I despised,
My heart withers in my chest
The spell that cast a shadow on this beauties shimmering frame
That hid a wonder a mystery this woman bearing my name.
I cannot believe I’ve lived alongside you for so long
And missed the chorus of a lover’s refrain.
We like strangers in the night
Ships passing by on a foggy sea,
Have rediscovered each other again,
Fearful yet wanting, the task ahead daunting,
Forever changed by the crimson stain,
Leaving us equipped in ways we can never explain.
One day at a time, we live for these moments,
One day at a time, is all we are given,
And by the grace of God our one day at a time will turn into memories
That we will share over a lifetime.

Look At Me

Look at ME!
I hold your gaze for untold amounts of time,
When others try to talk with you,
I’m so important,
That sometimes you won’t even look away from me,
When you see me, I am a window into the world,
A message from afar, limitless information,
I mesmerize you with my brightness and color,
Other things arent as important to you,
Other things need your affection,
But this bond we have is so strong, I have your attention most the time,
The world goes on around you but you hardly even notice,
Because to notice would reveal an absence
An absence of romance, adventure and life,
I feel so special, if only I could feel,
I can tell you love me, but I can not love you back, for
I am, your smart phone, cell phone, I pad and computer,
look at me, look at me, look at me.

Razors Edge

Razors edge.. By Steven Hudson

We tread upon the razors edge,
Seeing no danger, though either side be a ledge,
We find balance, feet rough and calloused,
An epic dance and spectacles collide,
Those who watch, their face do hide,
In fear and trembling, to what purpose to what end,
Every way tried, every way taken,
No turning back, no turning back,
For the razors edge will do it’s work,
We tread for change on this delicate path,
Or perish by it, and see the wrath..

A Winter's Night Observed

A Winter’s night observed by: Steven Hudson

Tranquility mounts in the silence of the moment,
Snow glistens from the branches of a full moonlight
Contrasting darkness’s shadowy backdrop,
A gentle calm breeze permeates the air,
Stillness, listening, as this wonderland envelops you
For a season an instant another land transports you
Apparent breath exhaled, a machine fearfully and wonderfully made
In wilderness, frozen and wild that is fearfully and wonderfully made
Green boughs heavy in blankets of snowy white
Black branches barren and void, form lines, into the starry night
Crystals flutter, sparkle and swirl on lumined plains spread out beneath,
On A winter’s night observed, a winter’s night of peace.

Et Lux In Tenebris Lucet

Et lux in tenebris lucet

Oh the roads I’ve travelled, things I’ve seen,
People I’ve known, devastation I’ve sown,
Cannot replace the love and grace or
A seat at the table in the glory of His face,

I’ve had a pedigree of pain
A long list of shame
A one to shift the blame
Like a lawyer defending his case in court
I didn’t have to plead the sort,
I see you through the lens of mercy,
My prosecutor becomes my refuter,
To the judge of sorrows and acrimony,
A pardon your free, here’s a new testimony
