Shredded Life

Your silence only
ampliphies the lies
And keeps problems and
doubts well fed
Comfort and trust
quickly sicken and die
What's left is a shell of a
memory
a life
Shreds of things we've
built together
Float through the still, stale
air
of betrayal
a desolate place where
decisions are hard
and consequences seem
heavier
than the mistakes that
gave birth to them
In these periodic moments
of paralyzing sadness
I consider jumping off
the side of this island
Into the unknown
with nothing but a leaky
raft
of pain, broken oars to
guide myself further into
solitude and the leftover
vows we couldn't keep

String Cheese

You
Like
String
Cheese
And
I
Laughed
When
The
Thought
Came
To
Me
It is just imitation shoelaces
I thought about how disillusioned
You became
And I tried to tell you
How to change the way
You see the world
And tie
The
Bad
Stuff
Up
With
String
cheese

Your Summer Touch

There is nothing like
Your smoldering summer touch
I miss you so much

Bother Me Not

I have a fantasy
something that can't be retold
something so bold
to go broke
to be homeless
only to still have home
to still have my beloved
to be drunk on love
so drunk that I don't
know right from straight
to be so enraptured that it means nothing as long as he is by my isde
youth
destruction
bliss
paris
random...to lead a random life
full of uknowns..and for it to bother me not.

Winter of Love

Sharp as winter wind
sadness touches me again
freezing me once more

Silhouette of a Crone

Silhouette of a sassy
Little sex pot
Trembling in midnight air
By her big white picture windowsill
Captured by a muse she feeds in her mind
Loved by homegrown worshippers
She never really has to leave
Bitter is as bitter does
And what has been seen are her bitter,
Reddened lips
And her fake silk-lined soul
All crazy nail biting
Vengeance and delusion
Oh the petulant crone!

Wings

A release so pure
It lets out its own sigh
Apart from mine or thine
To read is redemption
To write is freedom
Wings so large they span
across the globe
To let go
Even if only on paper
And not in life
Is still salvation
sweet and lush and ripe
To give it up for a life
where I can breathe
I can't imagine
Only writing gives reprieve
If I ever were to leave
I'd fear the thought
of having my wings taken
from me.

Giving Up Hope

It’s not really there
So I’ve decided I’m
Giving up hope
Cold turkey
All it does is yield disappointment
An unwelcome house guest
Something is always wrong
There is always something to hope for
And hope- it serves up so much at one time
It gies you dreams all full of holes
Hopes are like empty promises
Mirages and artificial energy
It’s not really there
It’s not lasting
And it’s not worth having
But we all want it anyway
It’s the ultimate high
The sublime, irrational escape.

Delicacy

You scooped my heart out
With a white hot spoon
Piece by piece
Slowly eating it like
Some rare delicacy

A Place So Dark

You are poison
Poison for my heart
In a way that no one can know
A god's betrayal so solemnly unfolds
In a place so dark there are no holes
Only blackness that unfolds and unfolds
Into sentiments untold
Buried deep beneath my pain, sorrow and desolate shame
Is this place so hollow
even I
Fail, am siezed
Cease to exist
Across from me the danger of my weakness sits
Writhing, convulsing
beneath the weight of this
My past, my desires, my values
leak from every orifice
