Marissa Gage Poem
Sometimes, I may go about things the wrong way.
Like when I ask you not to leave, but please, stay.
I don't care if we argue, but I hate it when we fight.
It's just hard to keep my mouth shut, when I know I'm right.
So, please, try not to get mad when I tell you how I feel.
You already know that the love I have for you is real.
It's just not good to bottle my feelings up inside.
There's no way that emotions are there for us to hide.
I don't think it's fair to hide anything from you.
Not if the love we have for each other is true.
If we meet halfway and work through all this,
there's so much in life we really won't miss.
Love,
Me

Marissa Gage Poem
You often ask me why it is that I care.
You've made it clear, you don't, I'm quite aware.
We grew up different, but also the same.
Our dads are the ones who take the blame.
I know my feelings can't stay locked up inside.
You act as though crying is something to hide.
We both have good moms who do what they can.
Yet, they won't always be here to hold our hands.
We have a beautiful daughter, and a son on the way.
It's time for more work and not so much play.
I want our parents to know that we can do this alone.
To see that we are good parents and we are grown.
