Couch Potato

Sitting on the sofa
Munching on some chips
Not a care in the world
Of calories on the hips.

Slouched down on the cushion
The tv glued to his face
You ask him a question
But he's out in outer space.

You call him to the table
He won't leave his favorite chair
The sports are on the screen
He must eat his dinner there.

The man is getting fatter
Nothing you do will get him out
You turn the tube off
And all he does is shout.

This couch potato man
No further does he get
His life is all downhill
Cause he's caught within a net.

The tv screen has got him
It's made him very lame
He won't go out the door
This man has earned his name.

A Spoiled Soul

As poison destroys the human body,
so does consenting to the enticement
of rebels spoil the soul.

A Bizzare Wooden Car

There was an old man
Who smoked a cigar.
He sped across the country
In an old wooden car.
He drove to the markets,
Known as "Number One Star".
He devoured so much fruit
That he couldn't drive far.
Got stuck in an outhouse
Had to leave the door ajar;
He couldn't trust anyone
With his old wooden car.
He noticed a grizzly bear
Standing off, not that far.
Quickly he commanded.
"Hey, Don't touch that car!"
The grizzly bear gave a growl
With his nose to the stars.
He chased the old man
And they both forgot the car.

Bob, the car must have came from an antique shop.

Mother of Mine

Dear sweet precious mother of mine,
It's you that have made my life to shine.
You taught me what I needed to be,
You set the example and encouraged me.

When life was down you tried to smile,
You pushed ahead an extra mile.
Your trusting spirit instilled in me,
An equal faith and humility.

No longer a child under your roof,
You still are to me a living proof;
That I can take whatever comes my way,
And turn it into something for God each day.

My voice, I know that I can raise,
And always sing my Mother's praise.
For you fulfill the proverbs of
A blessed mother and her love.

Thank you dear sweet Mother of mine,
For making my life to clearly shine.
Of everything you taught to me,
May I pass it to my family.

Proverbs Thirty-One Quilt

What kind of fancy quilt
Are you stitching up today?
Are you sewing a quilt
In the Proverbs Thirty-one way?
With each quarter embroidered
By busy hands of love
Living to please your Saviour
Who is watching from above.
In one block of your quilt
Do you submit to your spouse?
And creatively in another
Are you cleaning up the house?
What about the children
Are they stitched within a square?
Do you stay home within your place
And give them all your care?
What about the family money
Are you thrifty with your dimes?
Have you designated a quilt piece
On how you spend your time?
A devotional time with God
Should be the center of your quilt.
For everyone of your squares
On Jesus Christ should be built.
Your virtuous woman tapestry
Should have a ruffle on display
Of all the many blessings
God dotes on you each day.

Jesus Is

GOD THE ALPHA AND OMEGA,
IS OUR ALMIGHTY KING
BELOVED AND BLESSED POTENTATE,
TO HIM WE ARE TO SING.
GOD OUR COUNSELLOR,
CREATOR OF MANKIND IS HE;
DAYSPRING, DELIVERER
AND PART OF THE HOLY TRINITY.
EMANUEL, GOD WITH US,
THE EVERLASTING ONE;
HE THE FATHER OF LIGHTS HAS FORGIVEN
AND THE SACRIFICE IS DONE.
GOOD MASTER, GREAT HIGH PRIEST,
GUARDIAN OVER THE SAINTS;
OUR HIGH TOWER KEEPS US
SO WE DO NOT FAINT.
MADE IN THE IMAGE OF HIS FATHER,
HE IS THE INFINITE ONE;
JEHOVAH THE JUDGE, OUR JUSTIFIER,
IS THE GREAT HOLY SON.
KING OF KINGS, LORD OF LORDS;
AND THE LIVING BREAD IS HE;
LORD OF GLORY, LIFE EVERLASTING
AND THE LILY OF THE VALLEY.
MORNING STAR IN THE VAST HEAVENS ABOVE;
MESSIAH, MASTER AND THE GIVER OF LOVE.
MAN OF SORROWS WHOSE BLOOD WAS SHED;
PRECIOUS CORNERSTONE THE CHURCH'S HEAD.
THE GREAT PHYSICIAN THE SICK HE MADE WELL;
OUR RANSOM, OUR ROCK
WHO REDEEMED US FROM HELL.
SOVEREIGN SAVIOUR,
SHARON'S ROSE WE ADORE;
THE TRUE VINE WITH
UNSPEAKABLE GIFTS IN STORE.
JESUS OUR TEACHER IS
OUR VICTOR TILL HIS RETURN;
WONDERFUL WORD OF LIFE,
THE PERFECT WAY TO LEARN.
ALL THESE NAMES REFLECT
OUR LORD AND KING;
EL OLAM - EVERLASTING GOD
OVER EVERY LASTING THING.

My Bedroom Zoo

My mother says my room's a zoo
I guess I'd have to say so too.
My bed is full from bottom to top,
With stuffies from a nearby shop.
Herman snake is on my bed,
Casting glares at big dog Red.
Taffy and Ginger, my little cats,
Are snuggled up beside puss Pat.
Big Berly Bear has his own place to keep,
Across my polar pillow where I need to sleep.
At your own risk, dare to enter my room,
You might get bit by a nasty raccoon.
Pandas and zebra, and Billy the goat,
Mr. Giraffe stands guard in his bright yellow coat.
Sometimes my animals cling to the wall,
Like my two little monkeys in blue overalls.
My closet is full of precious stuffies too,
A tiger, a lion, and an elephant named Drew.
A family of skunks, the mother's real big,
There's Daffy my duck, and a squealing pig.
Arnold the mouse,friend of the rat,
Charlie the hamster, and Cat in the Hat.
A guide you will need, amongst all of my friends,
For in my zoo the animals don't end.

A Cricket Symphony

Out for a romantic walk
Under the evening moon,
We came across a street
That presented a pleasant tune.
The air would fill with rapture
It would capture every heart,
My husband and I
Couldn't wait for it to start.
At just the right moment
The Maestro rose His baton,
In melodious overture-like chirps
The crickets chanted their song.
They sang with tenor voices
As they called out to their mates,
The symphony completed
As we walked on past the gate.

Hellivision

Look out christian,
A heinous beast has come your way,
It's entered your home,
And you have plugged it in to stay.
This diabolical creature has gripped
Your mind with talons strong,
Squeezing out God-given wisdom
That tells you it is wrong.
The one-eyed evil wretch
Stains your eyes,
With pornography, blood,
Gore and vicious lies.
It has seized your youngsters
Around their throats,
All their viewing hours
Makes the monster gloat.
They are slyly being sucked
Down a dark, firery tunnel,
Because you have hooked them up
To the devil's funnel.
Filth and slime have easily
Captured your mind,
Seeing you've given over your life
For the ghoulish kind.
Now christian, let your family
Take a refreshing smell.
They can't. Their noses are stuffed
With sulfur from hell.
How the black-hearted devil
Screams with ghostly delight,
Now he has tangled you up
With all of his might.
Lost forever is time with God,
Due to your vision,
Not poor eye-sight,
But marriage to the hellivision.

The House of a Sloth

Around the room I look today,
I see that things are all array.
Messes here and messes there,
Everything is everywhere.
Disorder on the tile floor,
Dirty fingers on the door.
Balls of dust under the bed,
Junk is strewn in the shed.
Cobwebs hang in the corner of the room,
Never knocked down by the kitchen broom.
Heaps of clothes piled up high,
Everything looks like a filthy pigsty.
Dishes left where they do not go,
Food left out for mold to grow.
The beautiful house looks all forlorn,
Even the curtains are badly torn.
A sloth lives in this house you know,
For no one else would leave it so.
