All the right things were spoken in silence between
She understood secrets that weighed his soul down
The first of a moment, allowed them a dream

if I am in its path
to resist- I won't succeed
a civil war inside myself
on my struggle it feeds
an evil fruit
a beautiful Hell
eyes closed in concentration
for rather than remove myself-
I must remove temptation

I remember you, my star
I stood by the window
Staring into the inky sky
Such a dreary horizon
But there was you
Twinkling back at me
A sign of hope.
I remember how I felt
When my whole world fell apart
Crumbling like my heart
I thought that you were gone
For my eyes no longer sheltered you
And even if you stayed
I was ashamed for you
To see me cry.
And I remember when I found love
An infinite clarity
To my clouded vision
Though life has taken
It has also given
I learned of beauty
I learned of pain
I thought that nothing gold can stay
But deep there in the weathered sky
My lone star still remains.

There was a time when I thought I might feel you
Maybe touch you, maybe see you, maybe hear you
I thought, if I tried, I could wake you
Maybe know you, maybe hold you, maybe break you
But when my hands clasped thin air, I said to you
Can you find me though I cannot find you?
Maybe I can show you I believe in you
But I wish that I could see you as you are
You are so very close
And yet–

Were naught but brilliant sun
The small acts done in silent ways
Would seem like they were none
But if the wide, majestic world
Were dark as moonless night
A tiny deed would shine as though
It were the greatest light.
