So Close

There was a time when I thought I might feel you
Maybe touch you, maybe see you, maybe hear you
I thought, if I tried, I could wake you
Maybe know you, maybe hold you, maybe break you
But when my hands clasped thin air, I said to you
Can you find me though I cannot find you?
Maybe I can show you I believe in you
But I wish that I could see you as you are
You are so very close
And yet–
So far
