My Star Still Remains

I remember you, my star I stood by the window Staring into the inky sky Such a dreary horizon But there was you Twinkling back at me A sign of hope. I remember how I felt When my whole world fell apart Crumbling like my heart I thought that you were gone For my eyes no longer sheltered you And even if you stayed I was ashamed for you To see me cry. And I remember when I found love An infinite clarity To my clouded vision Though life has taken It has also given I learned of beauty I learned of pain I thought that nothing gold can stay But deep there in the weathered sky My lone star still remains.
