Toni Crawford Poem
The Heavens are calling
As my appointment grows near
Death shall soon consume me
Yet I have no fear
My spirit is rising
And my breath begins to cease
I look to my destination
And see a place of peace
The Angels are softly singing
Guiding me with their voice
I look to the life I left behind
Dying was not my choice
I feel myself soaring
Faster towards the light
I feel like I’m an eagle
Flying quietly in the night.

Toni Crawford Poem
You offer me the glass
And at first I decide to pass
But your charm and sincerity
Began to get the best of me
And your wine went straight to my head
At first your love tasted sweet
But I couldn’t swallow your lies and deceit
I mistook love for intoxication
And was too drunk to see your true intentions
Yet I remember every word you said
You said you would give me paradise
But the cost was too great of a price
You convinced me forever you sought
So reluctantly your game I bought
Now my hopes and dreams are dead
The glass in my hand had shattered
And I lost everything that ever mattered
The cuts on my hand were long and deep
As I look for blood from my skin to seep
My heart was the only thing that bled

Toni Crawford Poem
How will you die?
What will that moment be like
We all think about it from time to time
Even more so as the years go by
Will it happen real fast
In the blink of an eye
Gone too soon
To reflect on your past
Or will death be a slow dance
Would you say all you feel
To those you love
If you were given the chance
Will you die with dignity and class
Knowing this world is not your home
Or will you try to grasp the grains
Of sand before they fall through the glass
God takes away but he also gives
So breathe in your life
And then ask yourself
How will you live?

Toni Crawford Poem
Nude
Under the moon
Coldness takes our breath
Legs intertwine
Our bodies touch
Time stops
Our eyes meet
Locked together
I see your soul
Bare unto me
All that you are
Look past my body
And into my heart
There’s no going back now
For our innocence drowns

Toni Crawford Poem
Walk with me
Through the green meadows
And lay with me
In the buttercups
Look to the clouds
As they dance
Across the sky
To shadow the earth
The sun is setting fast
Spreading cotton candy
Across the horizon
Before fading into black
Watch the fireflies sparkle
Across the tall grass
To light up the trees
Like once in our childhood

Toni Crawford Poem
Take all I am
Into your heart
And swallow my poison
Past your lips
Drink it down
Drink me all down
Into your soul
Till you breathe
Your last breath
Look into my eyes
For there you’ll see
Into the black core
Of my raging river
I try to quiet
The devil in me
Before I lose
You forever
Why do I want
To crucify you
To make myself
Feel better
My halo fits
A little too tight
And my wings
Are old and wilted
My trumpet no longer
Makes a sound
Down falls the crown
