Something To Say

My heart is breaking,
Simply falling apart,
Waiting for you
To make up your mind.
You say you want me,
Say you want this to be right,
But you don’t talk to me
Like you used to.
You’re hiding from me
Something that you need
To get out
But you keep it within
And it’s hurting us both
I need to hear you say it
Tell me the truth
Stop holding it in
Quit hurting yourself
Put it out there
So we both can move on.
You say you’ve said it all
But the sounds
In your voice say something else.
I’ve heard it all before
From others in the past
None were quite consistent
In sticking with that lie
You’re tearing us apart
Get it out
Say it out loud.
Come on tell me
What it is you need to say
It’s time and you know it
Let it out
Stop ripping apart our hearts.

The Prayer

I’m falling to my knees
Bowing my head
Folding my hands
And praying
Dear Lord,
Teach me to be the person
You want me to be.
Help me to find the job
I’m meant to have.
Guide me to the arms of the man
I’m supposed to be with.
Push me to do the things
That I need to do.
Take me to the place
Where you want me to be.
God, I’m sure that
This sounds crazy
Especially coming from me
But I’m thankful for all
You have given
Grateful for what
You’ve taken away
Ready for that next
Big shove from you
To get me out the door
On my feet once again
Thank you father
For being there for me,
My family and friends
Amen.

If I, Would You

If my heart was broken a few times,
Would you try to mend it back together?
If I said I’m scared of what might happen,
Would you say that’s why I’m here?
If I needed to cry every last tear I have,
Would you place my head upon your shoulder?
If I walked away from everyone,
Would you follow me out the door?
If I said the pain’s just too much,
Would you tell me to keep on going?
If I let go of your hand,
Would you grasp mine tighter?
If I was in need of some T.L.C.
Would you be able to show it?
If I ran from you,
Would you run too?
If I was tired of holding on,
Would you let go as well?
If I wanted to get rid of my heart,
Would you take it?
If I needed a hug,
Would you give me the best one ever?
If I had to have a sweet kiss,
Would you make it the longest one you’ve ever given?
If I just needed love from you,
Would you give me all the love you have to give?

Do I Fit In Your Future

I’m not sure how to ask this,
But I’ve got to know,
So I’m just going to ask
Do I fit in your future?
Do you see me with wrinkles,
Still believing that I’m as beautiful
As the first day we met?
Do you I fit in your future?
Do you see yourself loving me
No matter who or what
I may possibly become?
Do I fit in your future?
Knowing I may never
Be exactly what you
May want me to be?
Do I fit in your future?
Even if you may not
Really even see
A future for yourself?
Do I fit in your future?
It’s probably a lot
Of me to ask of you
But still I’ve got to know
Do I fit in your future?

What Is Family

What is family?
Is it the woman
Who gave birth to me?
Yes she is your mother.
What is family?
Is it the man
Who protects me?
Yes he is your daddy.
What is family?
Is it the girl
Who plays with me?
Yes she is your sister.
What is family?
Is it the boy
Who I see?
Yes he is your brother.
What is family?
Is it the lady
Who cuddles me?
Yes she is your grandma.
What is family?
Is it the gentleman
Who sits me on his lap?
Yes he is your grandpa.
What is family?
Is it the people
Who I call my friends?
Yes because they are your friends.
What is family?
Is it everyone
That I see?
No it’s everyone that you love.

Not Afraid

I want to cry sometimes
Even when I’m happy
Cause it clears my soul
To know I’m not afraid anymore.

I’m not afraid
That you’ll leave me
If you’re going to go
You will go.

I’m not afraid
That you’ll never talk to me again
If you don’t want to talk
Then you’ll hear no words.

I’m not afraid
That you may stop touching me
If you don’t want to feel
Then touch you I won’t.

I want to cry sometimes
Even when I’m happy
Cause it clears my soul
To know I’m not afraid anymore.

I’m not afraid
Of getting hurt
If you hurt me
Then I let myself get to close.

I’m not afraid
Of missing out on a kiss
If I don’t get one
Then it’s one of many I don’t have.

I’m not afraid
Of you anymore
If there is no love
Then there’s no us.

I want to cry sometimes
Even when I’m happy
Cause it clears my soul
To know I’m not afraid anymore.

Family

Family,
There’s so
Many words
To express
How they
Can make
Me feel.
Angry because
They say
Mean things
Sometimes.
Sad because
They say
The wrong
Things occationally.
Happy because
Of what
They do
Most times.
Excited because
They are
Always there
For me.
Family,
What’s there
To say,
But I
Love you.

Wall

I’m building a wall around this heart of mine
In order to keep everyone out.
I’m making it of stone and brick,
Making it three feet thick.
Got to stay on my feet this time.
Please don’t let me fall in love,
And keep me away from them all.
I know I don’t need to fall,
Flat upon my face once again.
I've just got to run away,
From all of this pain,
For I have nothing to gain.
Men just hurt me
Over and over again.
They step all over this heart of mine
And leave it in such a bind.
This is what I have to do
To keep them all out
Keep them from hurting me
Just get them to let me be.

Time

Time
That’s all it took
For us to talk.

Time
That’s all it took
For us to touch.

Time
That’s all it took
For us to kiss.

Time
That’s all it will take
For us to be together.

How About You

This is it
I’m not scared any more
I’m hearing
What you have to say
Hanging on
To every single word
Waiting for
That moment when you say
I’m ready
How about you?

I know
I want to be with you
And you
Want to be with me too
I’m holding
On to this feeling
I have
Deep down inside of me
That’s telling me
We truly will be.

This is it
I’m not scared any more
I’m hearing
What you have to say
Hanging on
To every single word
Waiting for
That moment when you say
I’m ready
How about you?

I don’t know
If you’ll ever be ready
You haven’t
Told me how you
Truly feel
But I’m pretty sure
It’s coming
Out of you real soon
Just got
To give it some time.

This is it
I’m not scared any more
I’m hearing
What you have to say
Hanging on
To every single word
Waiting for
That moment when you say
I’m ready
How about you?

I’m hearing
Others tell me that it
Won’t happen
That I’m just a dreamer
And maybe
I really and truly am
But that’s
Sometimes all I have
And all
I need to have

This is it
I’m not scared any more
I’m hearing
What you have to say
Hanging on
To every single word
Waiting for
That moment when you say
I’m ready
How about you?

I’ve dreamt
Of this day coming
And it
Might not be here yet
But I
Know it will happen
You and I
Will be together soon
I’ve just
Got to hold on to this feeling

 This is it
I’m not scared any more
I’m hearing
What you have to say
Hanging on
To every single word
Waiting for
That moment when you say
I’m ready
How about you?
