Book of Rhyme and Reason

"I never travel without my diary, one should always have
     something sensational to read.......Oscar Wilde, 1891

                                                                                           April 10, 2011
      Dear Diary,

             Though some have suggested
             I lend my thoughts to you,
             writing in a diary
             was never my thing to do.

             It felt so strange to scribble
             my thoughts, when I took the time,
             that is, until I realized
             that God gave me the gift of rhyme.

             Now it seems that all my thoughts
             have the same sounding ends,
             and since I've joined Poetry Soup,
             I'm making lots of poet friends!

             So, if you will indulge me,
             dear book of rhyme and reason,
             I'd like to write you a couplet or two
             or even a carpe diem!

                                                                                 Always your poet,

                                                                                           Ellen

I Have a Joseph, Too

Dear Jesus, did you know,
I have a Joseph, too?
Mine, like yours, is kind and gentle,
Loyal, loving, and true.

Like your Joseph, God sent him
To guard and protect our family,
And through the years he's done just that,
He's really very special to me.

Your Joseph, we've known as 'Saint'
by those who love the Lord.
He answered God's call with faith like steel,
Just as it was implored.

My Joseph, too, has led a good life,
With God at his center each day.
Through happy times and painful moments,
Mine knew you would lead the way.

Your Joseph, we call your 'foster father',
The best 'Pop' you could have had.
As for mine, he's been such a gift,
And I just call him 'Dad'.

To Laugh Or Not To Laugh

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Laugh at me or laugh with me,
It's really up to you.
I prefer the latter,
It's the 'funner' thing to do!
Is it funny or is it not?
Depends on how you see.
But, a little bit of laughter
Can fill a room with glee!
Text someone an 'lol',
Or simply say 'haha!'
Either way, you'll make 'em smile
Instead of 'wah, wah, wah!'
So try a little laughter,
And do it right away!
It's sure to change your outlook,
And brighten up your day!
Lenten Reflection
Self-denial is the doorway
that leads us closer to God.
To lose oneself is to gain
a deeper intimacy with Christ.
Self-doubt is the window
through which the devil
makes his entrance.
What Easter Means To Me
+ ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ + ~ +
By His wounds I am healed
He died on the cross for me
My sin never to be revealed
Was nailed to the tree
He died on the cross for me
So that I may have new life
Was nailed to the tree
Heart pierced to end my strife
So that I may have new life
My sin never to be revealed
Heart pierced to end my strife
By His wounds I am healed
I Believe
As for the origin of holidays, I'm definitely not very smart.
I am a Catholic Christian, speaking simply from my heart.
Concerning Christmas and Easter, we have been doubly blessed.
We have experienced the great Love of God made manifest!
Christmas is the holiday that celebrates our Savior's birth,
The day God chose to send His Perfect Love to earth!
On Easter we remember the gift of His life, death, and resurrection.
We wait with hope in His return, with His Holy Spirit our connection!
As our Blessed Mother Teresa shared concerning love for God,
Be faithful in your service to Him wherever you may trod.
Whether you are Hindu, Christian, Muslim, or Jew,
The Creator of us all holds us with His Love so true!
I Am Just a Tear
by Ellen Fahey
I'm trying so hard to hide in here,
but, her emotions won't release me.
Why does she fear?
I am just a tear.
Liquid feeling
made for healing.
If she'd just let me loose,
her pain I could ease.
But, here I am
I'm locked inside,
Lord, won't you help her, please?
Help her to see that it's okay
to feel what she feels.
Let me fall from her eyes,
and caress her tender cheek,
for it will be in my release
that she will hear you speak.
For I am nothing to fear.
I am just a tear.
Liquid feeling
made for healing.
