life of a Cat

pitter patter paws

a cozy warm place to sleep

purring up a storm

Spring Is In the Air

spring cleaning,
spring planting,
spring pruning,

bees,
butterflies,
allergies,

campfires,
marshmallows,
smores,

spring break,
school is out soon,
happy tired children,

the smell of flowers,
fresh spring rain,
first mowed grass,

just a few of my favorite things!

Mama

we gather around
knowing mama is baking
waiting on sweet crumbs

Last Night I Dreamt

Of january starting a new year

Of heart messages written on colored paper in february

and my birthday in april

of green cabbage and corned beef in march

Of hot dogs and hamburgers in may for memorial day

the beginning of summer in june

And fireworks in july

The summer coming to an end in august

Labor day gatherings before the kids start back to school in september

Spooks and goblins prancing through the street in october

A turkey feast in november

And everyone opening gifts in december.

July 27,2013. Humorous

Campfire

Flames sprout
from beneath
old logs
sending smoke
rising in darkness
Everyone gets seated
around the circle
 laughing and sharing stories
More wood
bigger fire
burnt marshmallows
drippy chocolate
no one watching the time
everyone is having fun
around a good old campfire

A Walk In the Woods

grandparent's farmland
passed down through generations
apple peach trees grow

overgrown pathways
barb wire fence contains thorned bush
wild berries florish

Joy and Kindness

cherish every day, because it's a gift
be kind to one another
forgive those weak-hearted

be thankful for everything given to you
build one another up
always trust in God's enduring strength

Where Life Takes Me

I must come to terms

with life's decisions

whether they be joyful or hurtful

Overcoming Mistakes

let your tears roll free
and the stress drop off shoulders
weight of world lifted

Wisdom

the wisdom of the owl

comes from lengths

of being perched and keeping watch

posture of a statue

in the glow of a full moon

eyes piercing every move
