Professional Crime - Cinquain

Lawyer,
slippery snake,
white collar criminal,
mirror image of thievery,
serpent.

Save Us, Please

I watch a tree fall,
I see it topple downward...
"Oh my God," I call.

The land is clear cut,
the animals cannot hide...
protest for their side.

Money is their king,
gold, silver, and diamond rings...
ruthless land strippers.

We must save the trees,
I beg and plead for help, please!...
Together - a breeze.

Ouch

Sir Isaac Newton
didn't think gravity was fun,
when at the tree he did slump,
from an apple that caused a lump.

Haiku Two You - For Contest

It was one of those
mornings when rain poured sideways...
horizontal blinds.

It was a happy
morning when flowers awoke...
springtime explosion.

The Brighter Light

I walk in darkness many times,
not knowing to turn left or right;
there is a light, a glowing ember,
toward the light I have greater sight...

I seek and I search for all its meaning,
why it follows, why it sometimes goes;
I seek it scarcely in times of strength
and cry for its presence in times of woes...

I am aware that it can always live,
inside of me, flowing ever bright;
all I need is an open heart
and a forgiving soul to power its might...

My walk in darkness need never be,
if I remember to always shine like He;
for loving and forgiving are above all else,
in the ever-present glow between Him and me.

Please, Forgive Me

You have a schedule;
we have our problems -
you don't want to hear about it.
You only care about loving us,
you only want to laugh, not cry.
You have been bargained for
like a second-hand item,
but you are a first-class person.
I have watched you suffer
from this terrible fate;
you didn't have anything to do with it,
it will never be your fault -
I promise you that.
You are a blessing from above;
we have darkened that blessing
with our stupidity and stubborness.
All you want is peace and
wholeness once again;
all we want is to be separate,
but we both want to share your life.
Forgive us!
Forgive me!
I've fractured your life,
I've divided your time,
but most of all,
forgive me for not being there
when you most need a hug;
my soul always cries for you,
you are my child...
the one pure gift from above.
Please forgive me, my child.

Crimson Flower

I think of you,
the crimson flower
shining in the blazing sun

My mouth waters
for your delightful kiss,
the taste of your flower

My life desires
your life-sustaining nectar
running through my body

My soul is enlightened
by your pleasant grace,
the essence of you

My heart churns
for your petals around
raining down, touching me

My world wishes
for you always...
the sweetness of my life.

About Her

A loving child has touched my heart
with her cute smile right from the start;
I was stunned. A father - who me?
until this precious little life I did see.
She's turned my world inside out,
and has taught me what life's really all about.
How can a child carry such a force?
In her mind, she never had to coerce.
I find myself letting go more and more,
and I do not ever want to know a cure;
I see my life is now not only about me
but about this loving child - laughing with glee.
I grew up in this world not long ago
because of my daughter I do love so;
she's changed my life forever - that much I know,
and I thank God for letting me watch her grow.

Today

Today, a breath is taken in -
a simple automatic response,
eyelids open -
not even thought about.

Today, a love has been lost -
never to be held again,
the breath stops, the eyelids close -
the responses not simple.

Today, life and love is held much tighter,
never... it seems much closer than it did yesterday -
tomorrow isn't always an automatic response.

Broken Glass

Shattered dreams like shards of glass
thrown wildly on the ground,
part of a soul reflected in each one;
"Dare to dream" they shout,
empty words...missing persons.
Blood flows freely along the ground;
A river to nowhere,
a life of nothing.
Where did the directions end?
When did the breathing stop?
Take away the dreams
every last one;
Take away the light
for darkness hides the shame;
siphon the last drops of blood
let no river flow;
sweep up the glass
for no reflection shall ever show.
