Sundari Kannan Poem
a moment to rejoice felt the slight high of swaying away
the tender breeze was all so cool singing a lullaby to me
i swung high and rotated low swinging away in glory
never knew when the drizzle so slow started to spray
me with awe
slowly i lost my flesh and identity drenching in the storm
that stole my clothes and left me bare
here i stood like a skeleton hung with nothing
but well spend momenst in thunder....sunkan

Sundari Kannan Poem
IN WINTER SABARIMALA A TRIP TO REMEMBER:
In winter all men down south of India
Follow celibacy for 40days
They are up by very early in the morning
Praying meditating on the lord
They would never shave but bathe
Morning and evening to maintain hygiene
They wear black to show their
Detachment into any normal life.
They will not attend any wedding
Stay away from all celebrities
They have restricted food
No onions or garlic but saatvic food
That could be gruel or soup
Sleeping on a water reed mat
Nothing too comfy on the bed
With a wooden plank for a pillow
They should be at ease.
no sandals or boots allowed one need
to walk bare foot along the thorny hilly path
filled with snakes and wild elephants and thorns.
one loose their identity as all are dressed alike
to loose the "I" and be equal among all the ego is taken away.
The 40th day they celebrate together
And carry a coconut filled with clarified butter
Along with some rice on their head
To give it to the bachelor lord of the hills
Some time these holy days are extended
From mid November to mid January
To see the celestial wonder of star
High above when the temple opens in décor
All shout in ecstasy the lord is pleased the lord is pleased
Beautiful lullaby is sung to put the lord to sleep
It is a holy time with winter many around have different
Mode and ways to spend in the name of lord….sunkan
LET ME ADD A BRIEF
in south india or the whole of india sometime come together to follow this trip to
sabarimala the deity is known to have been born from two males shiva and narayana who came
as mohini to bring him into this world. so he will not have anything to do with female in
his vicinity, so women lesser than 10 and above 55 are allowed to go to see him, to see
him one must follow celibacy and strict meditation and lead a ascetic life for the period
that they follow to go and see him...sunkan

Sundari Kannan Poem
Once you become a mother
You feel you need to be with the child
Always taking care of its needs
Even while at work your entire mind
Is gnawed at with the thought of your child
When you reach home the first thing
You do is run up to the child pick it up
And shower all those feelings you wanted to share
Women basically I feel work mechanically
Rather than going to the level that
That is her life and she should work for a living
The mother in her always begs to differ
Does not want to prove anything anywhere
The tussle between the ego and image
Is on forever as it never gets any recluse from this position
I being a singer had to be away in the evenings
Loved singing and would be singing a lullaby
Praying it reaches my little one to put her to sleep….sunkan

Sundari Kannan Poem
You abandon me on my teenage fore To be reminiscent of our virgin love
To pang through the emotional lane
Seeking solace in our thoughtful plain
The words so rhyming were those scenes
We lived through with emotions spleen
Taking turns to hurt us more
Were active mind ready to recluse
Trust is a lie that we had learnt
Walked our way through with an empty mind,
Love we knew was something
That drew us near but not within
We loved the company and the bond
That had no future we came to scorn
We ridiculed the very nature
Of two human in stature
Spoilt the fun with little demands
Made it costly for our ends
The moments well spent still linger
Regret moments that could have revived
With love and love alone to survive
The first embrace and the smudgy kiss
Those made us learn many to miss
The long walks along the moonlit shore
Paving way to buoyancy more
Clinging on the spirit of love
Could never imagine it will be a phase
To think back with love and haze
You lead me through the love lost arch
To abandon me on the no trust mark
Still it aches to know I loved you more
I couldn't take it I fell to my knees.
The high price of innocence fleezed
You left me on the bridge of park
Standing to know that your love is quack
The first crush is always a demeanor one has to learn to live with as it never matures the
way we think the way it would…..sunkan

Sundari Kannan Poem
The moon lit night lured me to the waves
When the cool waves touched my feet
It aroused the girl in me
The chuckle quietly summed up
Sending euphoria a high
The shine of the moon
Brought about a heady feeling
Saturate me in its glow
The stars were far away
Diamonds in the sky
Setting a stage of love
Exclusive for me
The iridescent silent waves
Enlightened their selfless love
Which held in abundance
Making me feel
Am I worthy oh! Am I?
The soft sand caressing
My feet while I tread
Giving me a feeling
Of cherished moments
Not to despair
The nature has in abundance
The love only to give
Then why oh human
You are always seeking
Without than within.....SUNKAN

Sundari Kannan Poem
love stays away for some even if you are born on feb 14th
It eludes you even in childhood if your mother loves your brother more,
It eludes you even among siblings if your brother loves your sister more,
It eludes you even in schools if your teacher loves your other friend more,
It eludes you even in college if your boyfriend loves your friend more,
It eludes you even in work place when your boss loves your colleague more,
It eludes you even in life when your husband loves another woman more,
It eludes you even if your children love your husband more,
It eludes you even if your extended family loves your children more,
It eludes you when it loves your aged self than your youth more..
May be god loved me so wanted all my attention to him more…sunkan

Sundari Kannan Poem
The wafting aroma of cake around
I see around my friends busy
Busy making savories and sweets
Sweets are a few but taste yummy
Yummy is the cake with different flavor
Flavor of cinnamon and cake seed enhance
The visual enhanced by the star of lights
Lights lined up sparkle in the home front...SUNKAN

Sundari Kannan Poem
THE MORNING WALK WITH YOU
It is the same morning filled with dew
The rustling soft leaves make me feel anew
The foggy morning reminds me how u hugged me through
Our walks were awesome and nothing to speak but silence our bonding moors
I know my walks are never lonely
There you are with me
You may hold but I will chill knowing your warmth in heart
The unspoken phase of walk with only you along
And beautiful thoughts of another day will triumph in my heart
Ripping sometime the shattered moments when you’re gone
Lost are those moment where I could had been wrong
No resurrections but only fault to play
Still you are here I know my love nothing will ever stray
You await my call to join you here with you
Until then I know you will always stay with me through and through….SUNKAN

Sundari Kannan Poem
My street without the stars:
I miss those stars of different colors
The aroma of baking around
The perfume of church going folks
Who walk in silk saris and gowns
The suit and tie in place
With shining shoes along
Little children aping the adult
Following in suits and small little ties
The pretty girls with their rustling skirts
And jeans and tops too
The street used to be filled
With these folks around
Now not a single star anywhere
No folks to wish merry christmas
Where are you my friends?
I wish you from here
Pray for your happiness
May god bless you the year around….sunkan

Sundari Kannan Poem
Empty apartment:
Let me say a proper good bye
To this beautiful abode that was mine
Each room has a story to say
How I wish I could run back to those days
Here is the room that he was jumping around
Screaming children dodging around
He said he was a ghost to be
Who will catch and eat them alive
The children screams have registered here in echoes,
The third room was my children room
Filled with books and clothes around
Always cleaning was my daily affair
To keep the dust and dirt away
Now it is lifeless as it seems
The kitchen was my world always
Churning delightful nourishment
Jams and cakes and soups as demanded
The tiles I have here have been personally laid
The lovely color to match the wall
What a delight it was that day
The school pass out and celebration
With a new cycle in motion
She was so delighted right here
The swing speak volume
The kids swaying singing away in chorus
Feeding in spoons as they sway
Not stopping their delight to play
Birth and death you have witnessed all
Stood like a solid wall to me
I never felt alone when I am here
Today I part with a part of me
To go away into an unknown future
Today I leave my dear apartment
You have been a part of history of my life
Never to be erased ever from my mind… sunkan
