Jini Kar Poem
It was the New Year s Eve, the cold December day
Snow covered the charcoal roads, the wind in trees lay.
She could see the lights in the cozy dining hall
Warm chaos and family reunion; a merry Time’s call.
The snow thickened and the wind rose, harsher and harsher still
When the mighty clock struck midnight, she leaned by the window sill.
It was years and years ago, that she had defeated fate.
To meet her one and only and to lose him to such wait.
Now ten years later as she looks at the little celebration
She wonders if she gave up her life to futile aggravation.
If only he were here, If only he returned her call
If only she knew why Lady Fortune had taken away her all.
But the years have passed and the Time has changed.
He is not hers to summon and she to him is estranged.
This New Year’s eve, she promises to herself
Like every preceding year, she will put the past on a shelf!
She has not succeeded so far and she knows she will not.
She looks out the window, content at her lot.
The family in the little cottage is having a joyous fête
She looks on with a solemn smile and marvels at her state.
Years have come and gone by and many more will do
Before she can meet, her matchèd star too.
As the star-shaped snow, falls softly on the ground
Her eyes tread the path, without a single sound.
They look like twinkling stars if you catch them on your hand
They render the earth heavenly and they charm you as they land.
‘Snowing stars, my snowing stars’, she calls them her own.
As every snowing star buries the memories she has known.
Under the snowing stars, she had cried all along,
Under the snowing stars, she will stay and hold strong.
Till then she will sit there, by the ragged window sill
And pray to the snowing stars, to bring Life its will.

Jini Kar Poem
Would you turn cities to kingdoms, if you could?
Your chariot before the fancy car, if you would?
The crown tumbling down, would you set it back up on your head?
Would you ever lie on linen with worries of tomorrow instead?
If the clock-hands run backwards, would you give chase?
If the golden sands of time glitter, would you stray in your historys maze?
The falling sceptre bringing disgrace, would you stoop to catch it prompt?
Or would you let it fall, fall on the lowly ground, while your dreams are stomped?
When the castle’s mighty bell, tolls with all its will,
Would you keep playing the game of thrones or would you stand still?
When the royal gardens have seen the last of gentle sparrows,
Would you still go back to the dry trees as the trunks narrow?
If the ghosts of christmas past, came back for you,
Would you let them stay and scare you anew?
Would you know the value of a moment when it comes,
Or would you wait for it to become the memory, till you succumb?
Your regalia — brightly shining, ensnaring you in its threads.
Would you curl up in its warm blades or would you fight till all your blood spreads?
Your subjects gather at your behest, would you lift them up this time?
Perhaps, you could deviate and just this once, play mime?
Now your royal procession begins, would you confront the crowd?
Or would you conceal your scarring face, for you are too proud?
But still this royal apologue, is yours to behold and comprehend,
So, tell me, love, would you? Lie on linen with worries of tomorrow instead?

Jini Kar Poem
I close my eyes and I see; a broken smile that is me
I close my eyes and I feel; an intangible light that makes it real.
I open my eyes and I imagine; my broken smile completing
I open my eyes and I touch; the reality that awaits me much.
I close my eyes and I hear; the whispering winds which render all clear
I close my eyes and I smell; the memories of times past well.
I open my eyes and I listen; to the winds that leave my life glistened
I open my eyes and I breathe; all the urging hopes of you indeed.
It is a cycle of here and there, is and not, ignorance and care
It is a cycle of haste and rest, true and false, worst and best.
Difficult as it is, I still live through; complicated as it may get, I still wish it were true.
One thing it is, to aspire and dream; another again, to silently scream.
It is a cycle of yes and no, maybe and sure, why and so
It is a cycle of ‘I think’ and ‘I feel’, ‘I want’ and ‘I must’, ‘I wish’ and ‘I have to deal’.
It gets tougher and I lose faith; but it is alright, I can still wait
My deepest fear is the end of it all; the loss of my faith and my patience’ fall
It is a fairytale waiting to happen; that is what I have believed in
It is the essence of life we all are looking for; that is what I have been thinking
Let’s wait a little longer and pray a little more
Hope for a few moments stronger and hold out till my feelings are sore
Find me before the dawn breaks, find me before the magic is gone
Find me before the spell turns to nothing, find me before the curtain is drawn.

Jini Kar Poem
"Shame on you if you fool me once,
Shame on me if you fool me twice"
But you are my only honest chance
And you are a compelling, addictive vice.
It was the first time our eyes had met,
And it was a spark that could stop several hearts
It was anticipation and it was said,
in secret whispers from spirited arts...
"Love is a many splendoured thing"
That was a spell of sleepless nights.
Oh! time did many fantasies bring
And dreams were like fluttering kites.
Again, time did what it had to do,
It brought parting as a gift.
No more talking, no more you --
A beginning of a heart break's rift.
It's strange how things go back and forth.
Heartbreaks and spells of charms intertwine
Love and its seemingly silly worth --
Thoughts and feelings of mine....
Now I stand at a two-way road
With doubts and strangeness crushing me
Now, should all this be farewell bode?
Or should I understand that you are finally loving me?
