I Never Needed a Dad

Hey Dad, Look at me.
Am i what you expected?
Here I am, living life
The way you always rejected.

At peace with myself,
with my head in the sky..
My love on the shelf,
And I never said bye..

But that's fine, Cause guess what?
You left me first, dad.
And now you've been cut,
Don't you dare think you're sad.

Cause i can swear before God
you hurt me and mom more.
So take your pain, and your hurt,
and walk out the front door.
AGAIN.

Counting Sheep

Tonight i'm feeling...not so great,
Been up too long, it's way too late..
The clock is reading half past two,
But i can't sleep, not without you...

But even lonely ones must sleep..
So I begin to count the sheep..
They jump and fall, but never end..
So much for that unhelpful trend.

But finally, my dreams are calling,
The sheep still jump, but have ceased falling,
And when it seems i'm flying too..
My phone explodes and thank God it's you..

Its nothing special, just a short little message,
But it seems to clear up all the wreckage..
"Goodnight Austin, you know that i love you"
"Goodnight sweet angel, i love you too..."

Why I Live

You ask me how, I never cry
or curse God's name, or question why.
You ask me how I keep this grin,
While drowning in this world of sin.

I simply state, with all this hate,
the world has in its present state,
that i can't find a way to live,
unless i'm smiling, please forgive..

So to you, an invitation
To spread this love throughout this nation.
But why not go the extra mile,
and give the world my viral smile?

Now one last time, go forth my friend,
and see this problem to the end,
Try to brighten someone's day,
and keep that smile, it's here to stay!
