Homework

My sister ate my homework,
Yes, I promise she did.
Her sweet eyes will fool you,
She looks like a cute kid,
But her teeth are sharp as knives,
As her hunger grows,
She wants some tasty geometry,
How she gets it?
No one knows.
It’s there in my bag,
Her eyes are stone,
Staring at my folder,
That homework all alone,
But she will give it a friend,
Maybe invite it for tea,
“I would love to have you for diner.” She’d say,
But she does’t fool me!
So I’m sorry I don’t have my homework today,
My sister’s on an eating streak,
I hope she does’t keep it up,
I might not have homework for the rest of the week.

Little Sister Lies

“who ate the last cookie?!”
Mom would yell aloud,
“it was the little bratty one!”
I would stand up proud.
“who spilled koolaid on the floor?!”
Mom would scream with glee,
As I pointed at my sister, I would say,
“wasn’t me!”
“who fed the dog ice cream?!”
Mom would yell glaring at us,
“I told her not to do it mom,
But all she wanted to do was fuss.”
So yeah my sister takes the blame
Every now and then,
But it’s about time I started getting pay back,
I mean gosh she’s already ten!
But who knew my torture had turn to teachings,
And a little master mind was starting to grow.
I never thought I’d see the day,
When the world started spinning so slow…
Then my parents were gone late one night,
And my sister said she needed to go out.
There was a crash, and now I realize
What that crash was all about.
“who took the car out last night
And completely crunched in the side?!”
My sister, pointing, said with innocence,
“don’t look at me, I cant drive.”

Monster

My room is never clean,
But that is not my fault,
It is the monster under my bed who does it,
He’s the one to call.
I’ll organize my school books,
And then I’ll make my bed.
I’ll do all my laundry,
And make sure my fish aren’t dead,
But when I go to school,
The monster will come out!
Destroying all in his path,
And eating fish, no doubt!
Although when I get yelled at
By my mom, it’s not nice
For the monster not to take credit,
For he’s the destroying device!
So I’m staying home from school today,
To make sure I can see
That darn monster destroy,
But where could he be?
He left nail polish on the floor,
And my carpet’s stained with tea,
Oh my gosh this is horrible,
The monster, is me!

Cookie Monster

the cookie monster gets her strength
from the plate by your bed.
Sucking down crumbs, growing at every bite,
knowing she shouldn't be fed.
Christmas eve is her favorite day,
when the goods are brought about.
After bed time, she downs the whole plate
so when Santa comes, they're all out.
She hibernates during fruit season,
the safest time of the year.
She sleeps, transforms, almost becoming normal,
then she says “Come here dear.”
so I go to my mother's bed side,
and she whispers in my ear,
“I his some short bread under the counter,
be a darling and bring them here.”
but this time, I put my foot down.
She must fight her addiction fast.
She's a sweet, loving mother as of right now,
but with a cookie, that won't last.

Life Lessons

Why be afraid to admit the truth,
When the truth is all we have?
If when one door closes, another one opens,
why even dare looking back?

The following sentence is false,
The previous sentence is true.
Always accept a challenge,
what do you have to lose?

When you love someone so much, you hate them,
Now that’s true love.
There’s no harm in spending life as a chicken,
if you dont want to be a dove.

Everyone learns
Faster on fire.
So don’t let it control you,
act on desire.

All life is just a slot machine,
And it’s your turn to bet.
Life is a foreign language,
We all mispronounce it.

The best man never wins.
The good always die young.
We all have a face only a mother can love,
Don’t ruin it by a slip of your tongue.

Learn from others’ mistakes,
And by God! Make your own.
Always respect your mother,
I don’t want to hear that tone.

Life is like a box of chocolates
You never know what you’re going to get.
You know the best thing about pain?
It lets you know you’re not dead yet.

Life sucks, get a helmet.
Stand tall, fight hard.
Life’s a hand of poker,
We all get dealt a bad card.

Don’t outsmart your common sense.
Don’t bend until you break.
When times get tough, suck it up.
Because sometimes it’s all you can take.

Never play not to lose,
Always play to win.
Keep the key to your heart in good hands,
So only true love can get in.

Just because there are cactuses in the world,
Doesn’t mean you have to sit on them.
If you decide to wear the pants in the family,
You better learn how to hem.

Love is a battle field,
Dreams can come true.
Just have realistic dreams,
That’s all you have to do.

But don’t forget to live for now,
And don’t leave anywhere without a knife,
Because everybody will fight for an easy ride,
On the merry-go-round that we call life.

Disadvantages

I sit here and wonder
bored in this air port,
what life would be like
If I was short.
How would I reach the carry on compartments
all the way above the seat?
In restaurants I'd need a booster chair,
and I'd have really tiny feet.
I could crawl through tiny doors,
and climb trees with the squirrels.
I'd be an expert at hide and seek
and hang out with all the short girls.
I would point and laugh at tall people.
They have no advantages in life.
Who wants to be tall?
What guy wants a tall wife?
Short people yearn for height,
extra inches is all they want.
Well I want crawling advantages,
and have a little body I could flaunt.
I'd give anything to be short.
Even a foot or two.
I just want to be normal,
there's so much I could do.
“Flight 41 for boarding.”
said the stewardess aloud.
No more day dreaming, no more short,
and poof went the cloud.
I stood up and grabbed my bag
as people stared in appall.
But hey, you get used to it
when you're over seven feet tall.

When Sally Sue Was Seven

when Sally Sue was seven,
she was given a magic bean.
It wouldn't make her strong or fast or wise..
she didn't know what it would mean.
It was given to her by the sweetest lady,
her neighbor Julia Joe.
Who had more friends and loved ones
than Sally would ever know.
And Sally was kind and would help Miss Joe
every chance she'd get.
Sally was shy and didn't have many friends,
but loved Miss Joe from the day they met.
Then one day Miss Joe came to Sally
with a small, heart shaped box.
She said “in this box you'll find a key
that can open any and all locks.
It may seem silly and small my dear,
it may look like just a bean,
but it'll take you wherever you wish to go,
you'll see things you've never seen.
You'll be friendly and smart and beautiful and sweet,
you'll have more friends than you can count.
All you have to do it put your faith in the bean
and with the bean you must never doubt.”
Sally took the bean with pleasure
and became all that she was promised.
She grew up to be just like Miss Joe,
just as beautiful, sweet, and honest.
Sally took that bean everywhere she went
and became the most popular girl in town.
It gave her the confidence to do all that she wanted,
you couldn't help but smile when she was around.
miss Joe was very proud of her and still saw her all the time
Sally still came over to help clean.
And one morning in particular, sally stopped her work,
and asked the truth about the magic bean.
“I used to think I was invisible.
But in an instant, I became seen.
How could something so small hold so much power?”
“what power darling? It was just a bean.”

I Once Knew a Girl

I once knew a girl,
a magnificent poet.
But when it came down to it,
she swore she didn't know it.
The people of the land
seemed to be the only who knew,
with all the words in the world
what this beautiful girl could do.
It didn't matter the day,
it didn't matter the time.
Wherever she ventured,
she was sure to bring a rhyme.
A rhyme that made people laugh,
a rhyme that made people cry.
A rhyme in which, no matter what,
could never tell a lie.
But when brought to question,
the girl would deny
that she had talent at all.
She'd say with a sigh,
“when one is
as beautiful as I,
one needs not a real talent,
one needs not even try!”
I talk just like everyone else,
but my beauty makes my word
worth so much more to the ear..”
and suddenly she had heard.
She shocked herself with her own ability,
as she smiled, she said, “I know it.”
finally she understood the magic of her words
as she screamed, “I am a poet!”

Peace

my mother always said, “Have peace of mind.”
but what did this saying mean?
My mind was never in distress,
why should it? I'm only fifteen.
I have no worries, no bills, no job,
I'm at peace all the time.
I guess she thought my life was tough,
after all, thinking's not a crime.
So I took her advice and went all day
being as peaceful as could be.
And by the spring in my step and the sparkle in my eye,
my world seemed suddenly at ease.
The air seemed fresher, the sky bluer,
and oh my the trees!
Like jungle gyms reaching to grab the sun...
and suddenly, I could see
that peace is a self evident right,
that takes some time to find.
So to have a good life, take mom's advice,
and always have peace of mind.

Stairs

she smiled, she laughed, she pointed with sass,
she's the only one who cares.
she giggled, she gleemed, she was happy it seemed
as she pushed him down the stairs.
her mind was floating, her laugh was gloating
as her hands clapped in pairs.
she had the biggest smirk on her face
as he fell down the stairs.
her mother yelled "what's that noise?!"
she said "just a dare."
knowing she was lying, enjoying the power,
as he fell down the stairs.
stich in her side, boy yelling
"i'm gona rip out your hair!"
she was red faced, but wanting more
as he fell down the stairs.
she looked up, her face went cold,
her mind in despair.
he took one shove, with a smirk on his face,
and he pushed her down the stairs.
