The Fixer

Everyone’s got a problem
Responsibility falls on me to solve them
Becoming a weight not easily carried
A heavy feeling that I’ve since buried

When it should surface I become unstable
Punching the walls until my hands are un-able
Echoing claps of my fists hitting the wood
Resonating pain through my bones as I stood

So share all of your issues
I’m here to fix you
It’s just another skeleton in my closet
An endless drip from a leaky faucet.

Dancing Skeleton

Crawl out of my skin

Perhaps I’ll dance with my own skeleton

To the beat of rattling bones

To the rhythm of deafening tones

Without flesh I’m free

No longer attached to my body

It’s weight now just a memory

Identity transcends me

Haunting thoughts won’t let me be

Performing my own lobotomy

Slicing away at all I’ve seen

Carving my skull clean

Another burden left behind

Such a wonderful way to waste a mind

Waltzing becomes easy with an empty head

Staggering so gracefully I could wake the dead.

Just Smile

Serenity can be found in simplicity
Open your mind to see clearly
Everything will be alright
Even when not visible, the sun is shining bright

I know not what comes my way,
But come whatever may.
Release your weary thoughts
Worry not about what tomorrow has yet brought

They’re merely problems not yet overcome,
Just part of life’s rhythm
Listen closely and you’ll hear,
Tranquility’s silence is always near

Happiness is not found in perfection,
But in the process of realizing you’re but a fraction,
A single particle in a grand scheme;
A grain of sand drifting down a careless stream.

Android

Almost perfect
Shaped and mimicked
From another’s vision
With utmost precision

A cut here
A slice there
Tailored to match perceptions
Of false conceptions

Faces cast a permanent frown
Escape is hard when the only way out is down
Falling deeper
The walls grow ever steeper

Almost finished now
As pure as the sweat from our brow
Not a single imperfection
A carefully practiced deception

Clean enough to see through
Not a spot on you
Your spine is still broken from bending
Our doctors will tend to the mending

No more mistakes
No more heartaches
Your feelings are fake
Taken away for your own sake.

Head In the Clouds

My head is always in the clouds,

Away from life’s dreary sounds

My body feels so weightless

In the sky that I caress.

I’m often so forgetful

But it’s so easy when days are dull,

Perhaps I should care more

About walking through the future’s door.

But then my mind couldn’t ascend,

No longer having to bend

To the will of your decisions,

And your ineffective considerations.

I am unshackled from fate

With all this room; I no longer suffocate.

I will always stray from standard demeanor,

And I will always be who I am; a dreamer.

Prism

Solar flares fuel my wings
Dragging my fingers through Saturn's rings
Prism rainbows surround me
In the constellation's sea
Someday I'll return to form
Stardust in the galaxies storm
Truth revealed
Time becomes a movie reel
Rewinding through spatial waves
visions of stars, my body caves
Everything is known all too fast
The mind tries to balance a weight too vast
It melts into my bones
In forms of vibrant florescent cones
revealing a map
of where the human soul inter-laps.

Imagine Your Hands In Mine

Every time I see you smile

I just want to hold you for awhile

And fall into your warm gaze

Of beautiful blue eyes that throw me into a daze.

And in this world I just can't stand

I'll stay if only to hold your hand

Facing tomorrow with an open heart,

And putting you back together when you fall apart.

Although our insecurities may vary

We all have emotional bags that we carry,

I don't care about the past

Or the valleys I must cross, however vast.

You’re the only girl in my dreams,

You keep me from tearing from the seams

So please just let me imagine your hands in mine,

Just a little longer would be fine.

It Fades Along With the Smoke

Inhale,

Exhale.

Numb to sensation

Emotionless pulsation

Travels up the spine

Tingling, stinging divine.

My own frailty

Does not betray me

Push the envelope,

Tighter, grows the rope.

Play with fire,

Dance on razor wire.

Unstoppable ignorance

Furthers the always expanding dissonance.

Just breathe in the smoke

There’s no need to cope,

False stimulation

Fends off foretold trepidation.

Lungs inflate,

Reality begins to deflate.

Vision blurs

Twists and slurs.

So empty,

Fate tempts me

Push the envelope,

Tighter, grows the rope.

So hollow,

Transparent rules swallow

A generation of perfection

Young and lost; without direction.

Inhale,

Exhale.

Directionless Horizon

The depths captivate me,

A river as vast as the sea.

Thoughts recede with the tide

Murky waters that swallow my pride

A crescent moon lurks in the sky

Morbid radiance that caught my eye,

So alone, yet surrounded by an ocean of stars

Imperfect orb riddled with scars.

Tracing constellations with my fingers

Only emptiness lingers,

Scanning space for the unknown

Looking for answers yet to be shown.

Home is non-existent,

But my tired feet remain persistent

One foot in front of the other

Baby steps without the help of another

Directionless I walk,

So lonely I swear the trees could talk

But I know I must continue moving

I’ll admit, the uncertainty is slightly soothing

Grinning a defeated smile

I collapse in the sand for awhile,

Searching a sky so distant

Once a man, now an infant.

Roots

Lines are drawn at birth
Genetics deciding our worth,
Lead along by the media on a stick
Truth burns thin, reaching the bottom of the candle wick

Born alone
Into this body I own,
Stepping face first into the unknown,
Naïve and panic prone.

Mother tried to raise me right,
Taught me how to swallow my pride; to be polite.
That the world’s a dark place when someone shuts off the lights,
She says everything will be alright, then cries herself to sleep every night.

Never owned anything I didn’t have to take
Stealing, manipulating, and lying for my own sake,
I’ve made a few haunting mistakes;
Some holding me down like ten ton shoes, anchored breathless at the bottom of the lake.

Father showed me how to be a man,
That there is not a single problem that can’t be outran
Yet sooner or later we all face the hangman,
Fleeing our problems only leads us back where we began.

Gone are the days of simplicity,
A foggy memory,
Head in the clouds
Lost in nostalgic sounds.

Introspecting what I’ve become
Drifting through the days as they come,
The deadline for adulthood arrives too early;
The death of my imagination surely.
