Where the Heart Is

like a bird in the sky
that has just learned how to fly
praying that this isn't the day that i die

i feel like like i own it all
if i had known what was beyond that wall
i would have belted up and each of those times and stood tall

the view from up here is amazing
all those times like an invalid relearning
the fear,regret,shame never ending

it doesn't matter for i am in this moment
what i had forgotten in all that torment
and never will i repent

you might know who i am and where i am from
but no one knows how far i have come
and no one will stop me, i am going home

I Still Believe

i put a yoke around my neck
and gave you the key
i tied shackles on my feet
and gave you the chain
i loaded a gun
and taught you how to shoot

to my surprise you did shoot
took all the innocence i had
and as if that wasn't bad
took my hope as well

all those thoughts of goodness were just in my head
the fake smiles that made my day
you turned my world once blue to gray
and that's all i had, you took my faith

but i still believe
that something about you is true and deep
that beyond that ugly mask you care for something
even if that something isn't me

Silly Mistake

so i run very quickly out of there
as i usually do whenever things get me a little unglued
like a child learning how to swing
even that so pleasurable that it can't be explained
starts like everything else...very frightening

so i wondered on what to do,
go back in, wave ,say oops these things are like loops
wait for everyone to smile understandingly
welcome me with open arms
wearing those smiles we all like...rainbow sized

so i am stuck in the future of my yesterday
contemplating in my present in the past
that which might become the present of my tomorrow
lead me into yet another today stuck
in the future in the past, a present in yesterday

Tears

i can see the light ahead
trying to reach it
but my legs are weak
my body is shaking

it is so dark around
can't see where to put my feet
am scared to move
but i also can't turn back

am tasting these salty tears
no comfort, no hope
i am aching
my heart is breaking

i can't stop now
can't even rest
i am so cold
i am so cold

I Grew

It doesn't matter how hard you look,
Or how often you point.
This is who I am and I am not ashamed today,
neither will I be tomorrow.

You have laughed and sneered at me,
But it will no longer phase me. I will not accept it.
The nights I shivered in fear and despair,
My brain too exhausted to sleep. Those are no more.

Yes life, Its you that I am talking to.
Those lemons you tossed at me,
The same ones I crushed
I now give back to you.

For I used them as manure and I grew

It's a Shame

the wind that never ceases
memories you wish you never had
the fact that life goes on
the sun promptly will rise

the waves crashing on the shore
the pains that gut you like a fish
when fear consumes you
and tomorrow you have to smile

life continues amidst all
even when you don't think you can stand
stand at all
life continues in it all....
