Love and hate, hate and love

I love you with every fibre of my being
I hate you with everything I have
You are my inspiration
I inspire to be everything you’re not
Every word out your mouth is a song
When you talk all I want is for you to stop
I want to be around you every minute of every day
I never want to see you again

Words trapped
Words silenced
Forced to live in the grey
No life
No colour

My emotions
Lined up neatly in the middle
Like princesses in a beauty pageant
Neat and tidy and presentable
Ready to be shown to society
Those lucky enough to be unaccepted are shoved back into the shadows
Hiding from the judging looks and hurt faces

My feelings
Worn and tired
Yet buzzing with adrenaline
Like soldiers on a battle field
Lacking the hope that they’ll ever see the light of day again
That they’ll ever send a red rose to their loved one
That they’ll ever throw a rotten red tomato at their enemy

My thoughts
Silenced
Like prisoners
Chained and tortured
Beaten and broken
Forced into the deep dungeons of the earth

Happiness
The pretty blonde they all want to see
The stereotype
The norm
Well the majority isn’t blonde
They aren’t skinny
They are ugly
They are stunning

Love
The one I protect
The one I protect from you
The one I protect you from
For I know it has the power to destroy
Destroy hearts
Destroy lives
It has already destroyed mine
Destroy friendships
I hope it doesn’t destroy ours

Hate
The boil in my bubbling blood
The monster in my bones
The one I deny
But I know the truth
I always will
In the way my fingers itch when I see your face
In the way my feet are ready to run away from you
In the way my thoughts stray to a paradise without you

I am yellow
Living in the false grey world
If only they knew I was red
Potent and alive
True and honest
Love and hate
Hate and love

My past, my present, my future - my always

You are the beat of my heart
The thrum in my bones
The light in my soul

You make me feel my best,
And my worst
- The puppeteer at the end of my strings.

You are always so out of reach
One step ahead

A ghost
A ghoul
A dream

You are no more than a cloud in a breeze
A leaf getting swept downstream
- The end of a rainbow.

You live in my heart
And haunt my dreams
You hide in my memories

I am always longing for your touch
To feel your hand in mine
lips against mine

I hope that someday

I will be the beat of your heart
The thrum in your bones
The light in your soul

I hope that someday

I will be your always

Magpies don't love

I don’t want to give you roses
Or words as sweet as chocolates
Shiny diamonds or love poems

I want to carve out my heart and serve it to you raw
Show you who I am and tell you the truth:
You hurt me like a knife to my chest
And some of the words you say bring tears to my eyes
But most of the words you say make my stomach ache with laughter.

I don’t love you
At least not in the way they tell me to
With sugar dusted words and fake smiles
I love you because of the person you are and how you make me feel
I hate you because you stop the words leaving my mouth and you make me feel weak
I love you even when its dull and worn
Because those are the signs of love.

Frankenstein unstitched

You steal pieces of me and yet make me whole:
First, you remove the eyes
Every time you walk into the room
Then the ears
With the melodies of your voice, and your infectious laughter
Next you take the brain
With all the thoughts, dreams, and memories of you
Then the skin
That longs for the warmth of your touch
And the feet
That want to follow every step you take
And finally

My heart
That will only and always belong to you

Scars

You applaud when you see
The sunshine
And the giggles
The laughter and the smile
 When you see the mask

You would scream when you see
The scars
And the truth that leaks through the cracks

You would cower when you see
The darkness
And how it steals the sun

You would hide when you see
The monster inside of me
The monster that I fight
The monster that is me

Good thing you don’t see the scars.

Hope

Stars were created to light up the dark
Tunnels always have an end waiting
Even if you can’t see it just yet

Hope is a lifeboat in a stormy sea
Hope is the sunrise every morning
Hope is always there
A light you chase
But it keeps moving
You run but you will never reach it
It is awaiting the perfect moment
But for now it gets you up every morning

Hope is a lifeboat in a stormy sea
Hope is the sunrise every morning
Hope is a promise
A promise to all those in war
A promise to the dark
You march through each day
The promise lifting your head up so you’re ready to face the world

Hope is a lifeboat in a stormy sea
Hope is the sunrise every morning
Is hope real?
Or is it just a demon playing fancy dress?
Pulling you along for the ride
Then it runs away
Alone in the darkness you sit

Nothing.
Alone.

But your cries are silenced by the thick fog around you
You stand up
And walk
Guided by love
You get to your destination
With a beaming smile

Hope is a lifeboat in a stormy sea
Hope is the sunrise every morning
Hope is love

Voice

Afraid

Afraid of the cameras
Of the mirrors
And the voice in my head

   Fat
   Ugly

Not able to fit in
The mould
Into the slim fit clothes

   Loud
   Annoying

Confidence - a mask I wear
Over the self doubt and insecurities

   Unlovable
   Unworthy

Of your love
Which is a lie out of your mouth
I feel like you’re looking for a way out
Out of my life

   Embarrassing
   Unwanted

Unwanted in conversation
Because of how I ruin it

   Self centred
   Selfish

A protection against the truth
Present a strong front
And they can’t get behind your walls
Into your doubt

   Childish
   Immature

Jokes that aren’t funny
Can’t be trusted
Just a bit too much

If only I felt worthy
Worthy of love
Of friends
Worthy enough to be myself
To feel confident

If only I could quiet
The voice in my head

Love you most

I love you more than all the stars in the sky
I love you more than anyone else
I love you more than life itself
I love you more than I thought possible
I love you more than words can express
I love you more than numbers can quantify
I love you more than you love me
I love you more than you can ever know

Last Page

Every high
Every low
I’ve mourned each death
Along for the whole ride
As if I knew you
As if you knew me

I see you in my dreams
And in myself

Travel in time
Unearthly beings
Denying the possible
But it’s all real to me
Real friends
Real problems
Real goodbyes
Last episode
Last chapter
It’s been a good run
Maybe I’ll see you again
But it won’t be the same

Because it’s not my life
Not my friends
Not my feelings

You’ve lived every life
I can only live mine

If only I was fictional
Where the happily ever after was mine as well
Where you would know me just as I knew you
Where I wouldn’t have to say goodbye
Where I wasn’t scared of the end credits
Or the last page
