ThreadBare

Ive been cut down to my seams
The pain was far worse than it seems
Some people seem to spend their day sharpening their blades
And some people stare at their seams till their vision fades
They Mark every Thread
Because if they couldn't, they'd rather be dead
Im the latter, and Ive known too many former
its like their blades sharpen with every corner
But something strange happens when you've been cut enough, Ive found
The Threads that are left? Their roots form the ground
And as you find the will to stand
slowly planting your feet, making sure its not just sand
A question comes drifting in
It floats like a feather, but lands like a prison
And when you finally see it, you question your vision
Its clear as day
It couldn't have gone any other way
All the cuts, all the pain
They have laid it out plain
Would I have found these threads on my own?
Or did all those blades help me to see, whats left isn't thread. Its Stone.

A Call from Shore

You know them when you meet them.
You can't quite put your finger on how.
Its some kind of quiet, non intrusive, intent.
Genuine curiosity catches off guard.
There is something your subconscious can't help but see...
The curiosity itself is the intent.
They aren't seeking anything, from you, or of you.
It feels different, because it is different.
When someone just wants to understand you, and be understood by you,
That energy is damn near palpable.
When someone truly makes no judgements of you,
you realize how full of **** everyone else is.
You think of all the times what you told this one was used against you,
or how it changed the way that one treated you,
or the way it not so subtlety created distance... all on its own.
But then you meet someone who is only being drawn in by all of what makes up who you are...
not slowly moving out of arms reach.
Being shown true care, true love...
Being shown what a truly safe place feels like...
Is like suddenly realizing you've been swimming in the ocean your whole life,
And now finding solid ground beneath your feet.
How do you explain what standing feels like to someone who has been adrift at sea their whole life?
And that's when it hits you, what this person is truly showing you...
They've been here, standing on the shore, for who knows how long now.
They were once a drift like you... they had to be.
But they found land somehow, and what did they do with it?
They didn't put up walls, or try to hide it for their own personal utopia, No...
Instead they turned towards the ocean, the very same ocean they just pulled themselves out of,
And started calling as many people to shore as they could.

This epiphany becomes a marked moment in your life & on who you'll be from that day forward.
Because there is an unavoidable choice that this safe ground now quietly demands of you...
A choice that will be made for you if you don't have the courage to make it yourself.
                                                                 Who Will You Be Now?
Will you be the one who starts building walls?
Or will you turn to face the water...
And Call to those still at Sea.

The War Within

When love lasts for years,
Through so many tears,
Their absence repeatedly stuns.

You think after the first,
It couldnt get worse,
Then the pace slowly turns to a run.

You search and you search,
You climb every perch,
But the weight of whats missed is a ton.

When you reach out for help,
To find only kelp,
Youll swear this is it, you are done.

When what you most seek,
Is darkened and bleak,
You wonder... where could be the sun?

But what scares you most?
You'd still run to that coast,
Like a bullet straight out of a gun.

The pull is too much,
You cant hold the clutch,
The force would leave anyone spun.

How do you cope,
With your dwindling hope,
While you watch all the threads come undone?

When all you desire,
Still roars like a fire,
You recall all the laughs & the fun.

But here's the worst part,
Its a fight with your heart,
The true war has only begun!

But since all that light,
Made all that dark bright,
You now see the parts that you shun.

And now you must hear,
Your shadow speak clear,
Though this is no fight to be won.

At the end you'll find peace,
A calm that wont cease...

Where you and your shade can be One.

Can Hope Outlast

I carry a part of the void with me wherever I go. It was with me long before I felt it. Longer still before I knew what it was and what it was taking from me.
I always feel its pull now, slowing my every step, draining my every thought.
I tried to ignore it, understand it, make peace with it, accept it, destroy it...
But it never slows.
Only grows.
Every knock down strengthens it, draining more and more of whats left.
My chest is hollow
My legs are weak
My mind is collapsing.
How much longer, how much more can it take, before im reduced to nothing?
I can see almost nothing but the void,
hear almost nothing but its crackling hum,
feel almost nothing... except its pull.
Am I even really here anymore?
Im slowly losing all sense of separation.
The only thing left that keeps me here is Hope.
Hope that I will find a way out.
Hope that ill find myself again.
But can Hope outlast the Void?
Can I?
I honestly dont know anymore.
The Hope is my last remaining tether.
But how long can that hold?
Maybe I will find a way out.
Maybe whats left of me will be enough.
But if Hope can't even survive...
What will be left of me?

The Weight of Me

When I first started this walk, the weight was bearable.
Even as it grew, it was all understandable.
Except after a point, it became unmanageable,
It shook like a wild animal.
But still I planted the next foot, with an intent intangible

And when I fell, I thought it would crush me.
And for a while it did... It came to hush me.

But then I realized my hand was free,
And I felt the blood rush into me.
I grabbed the weight piece by piece, examining each one thoroughly.
And when my other hand was free, My speed grew intensely.

Though with this speed, I still inspected,
... I must know how each piece is connected.

The heaviest piece... I could barely move,
It weighed down my heart... So I felt every groove.
I found a desire I can no longer soothe.
A true, connected Love, with no need to prove.

This piece more than just rested on my heart,
...Its been tethered to it from the start.
Its woven with such beauty, I've seen it as art.
Now its sown so deep, to remove it would tear me apart.

At least after this there will be no doubt
For the weight I carry, and what its about.

I can still remember when the hush fell,
And ever since then Ive been able to tell,
What weighs me down & so I try not to dwell.
Whenever I do, I can feel my heart swell.
If I linger too long it never goes well.

But I carry my weight with acceptance now.
I know who I am & What ill allow.

I just sincerely hope that I can find,
Someone who's grounded, Someone who's kind.
Someone to whom their weight is not blind.

So we that can walk Hand in Hand.
Right to the end... Until neither can stand.

The Wreckage in My Mind

I dove Into the wreckage of my mind again.
That might make you think I need rescue, or to be shown the way. That you can help me out of these deep waters. But I dive willingly.
I've come to know myself deeply. I've connected with every part of what makes up my shadow. That melding is a life long weight I happily carry.
But even after you've lit up every dark corner your shadow hides in, you still have to keep the lights on. But with this light I know what I feel and why I feel it, fully. But the consequence of feeling deeply, is feeling deeply...
Feeling is like diving, if you go too deep, you can't come up too fast. Returning to the surface takes longer than the dive, and the deeper you go, the longer the return.
Everyone looks at me like I am mad for diving as deep as i do because of the toll it takes to return. But I don't care about that. I never have. This does, however, make me a difficult person to care about. I have yet to meet someone who hasn't felt the burden of loving me.
I dive to understand, and on the return, people that care for me dive in to help me up. Because they love me and care for me. But I cant come up as fast as they want me to and so, eventually, they get tired of waiting. But I have been living with the damage in my chest of coming up too soon for others, and some damage is irreparable.
I like who I am now. I know how deep I have to dive to stop my shadow from making another dark corner. I just wish it didnt make me so hard to love.
All care for is to love and to be loved. This is my soul's remaining desire. my only other desire has only ever been to know myself and that's how I know all this to begin.
Because I dove into the wreckage of my mind.

The Climb to Light

You are going to fall, start over, think you have it all worked out in your head, just to know instantly, you were wrong with the very next step. You cant even bear your own weight.
And then you fall. Maybe you catch your footing, maybe you hit the bottom.

East resting point along the climb, a piece of your shadow, aspects of yourself you don't even want to admit exist, waits.
Finding a way to fit them all together, to become whole, is the only way to bear the weight.

One day, you see light. you climb with a fury you didnt even know you had.

you finally reach the top.

Now you know what it feels like to be whole, standing in the light, for the first time.

As you soak in the light of your fully realized existence, with all the pieces of yourself aligned, sharing the warmth of the light...what happens next?

You begin to lose control.

you didn't notice the intensity of your shadows up here. As they begin to fight for their share of a light that is already fading.

The cold dread of losing control creeps in as you refuse to accept that you cant stop the light from going out...

...you only just got here.

Your last thought rings out as you sink into black.

As you being to feel again, you don't even need to see to know where you are.

The bottom of that damn pit. Again.

But this time will be different.
Now you know how intense the light shines.
Now you know the weight of holding all your pieces together.
You have an idea of how they fit.
And you know how hard your shadow is going to fight when the light shines again.

You will get back.
You will find a way.

Climb.

The Harbinger

You know them when you see them... or rather... you know them when you feel their presence arrive. You will almost always sense one before you see it. And if you do happen upon lady luck in a good mood on that night...
Seize the chance! BUT!dontmovetoquicklynortooloudly,
The phenomenon that you would create would attract their gaze before they even gripped the doorknob. Now this isnt to say you will be their victim on this, or any other night, theres always some greater fool. Some fool who can not pierce beyond the veil of darkness they wait in. Always remember; easy prey is easy prey, especially when the target is meaningless. And a harbinger that arrives alone rarely leaves empty handed. So if you are one of the ones lucky, or maybe, unlucky ones. Who hasnt met one yet, ill leave you with this. A friend of mine saw one once, close enough to feel its gaze, but he ran. And that night he told me the message the harbinger carried...

Storm and Serenity

You wandered into my life like a morning fog, effortless yet all encompassing. You fit in like the space was waiting for you all along. We see the broken pieces of each other, like torn bark from a tree, but neither run. Instead we each move closer to see better, to see if we can help.
I sit with you so you know you aren't alone & we sift through our pieces together, no matter how sharp. This quiet serenity that we have found in each other, this peace in the eye of the storm... has saved me.
Two souls whose only true desire is to be seen completely, and accepted. Not loved in spite of, not seen as a work in progress.
Seen. Loved. Chosen.
Is as rare to find as blue in nature. You begin to think its only ever a reflection of some unattainable sky.
But now I sit beside undeniable proof. You could go your whole life denying its anymore than a mirage created at some height you will never reach. But it will still find you just the same...
And you will never be more happy to be wrong.

She is the Thread

She is the thread,
When I'm lost in my head.
When my brain is on the floor,
When I just cant push anymore,
I look to my side,
It was there as if it would always reside.
I grab the thread off the ground,
And when I do, I hear a faint sound...
Her voice in the dark,
Like an out of sight landmark.
As I follow the thread where it leads,
All my fears give way and recede.
Her voice will help me find the light.
The thread will guide me through the night.
Ill find the path straight back to her,
With this thread and that voice... of this im sure.
