space, the final frontier

if you think about it
space
its mind boggling
the universe
the sheer size of it
galaxies
we'll never explore
worlds
we'll never see
space
the final frontier
nothing else in this life is totally unlimited
except space
the information held
in only the worlds we've never seen
we create poetry
art
but is it forever
nothing is
but space is close
the beings ultimately hidden in it
the words spoken
the stars illuminating the blackness
of space
there is no equal
every history ever written
millions of possibilities
small minds
thinking where the only ones
we can't be
space is simply too big

when you are young

when you are young,
 they assume you know nothing
nothing of the world
because you are new to it
the glasses of the young
 are the purest
see the most raw
 the most beautiful version
they assume its ignorance
but if your life is shrouded in darkness
you never see the light
 that
that is ignorance
that is what they should call young eyes
young understanding
 age is just a number
your understanding of the world
that is what tells you your age
your wisdom
not the time you were born
an old soul is old not because of its age but because
it understands more than you think it does

the sunset of nothingness

red
orange
yellow
the colors of my childhood
of getting up early
to watch the sunset
the colors blending
the silent moment
of nothingness
when the world quiets
just for a moment
you never know when you'll have your last sunset
when you have to chase that nothingness
because
because its the only peace you get
your only moment of silence
when all there are is you
and the colors
yellow
orange
and red

life death and everything in between

this is life
confusion experienced
loneliness felt
pain common
happiness lucky
seeing the world as
beautiful
unfair
cruel
dangerous
all those things
and so many more
but what do we do
what is our purpose
people spend their whole lives searching
dancing through life
never stopping to smell the roses
never willing to compromise
you enter this world with nothing
and you leave with nothing
only hoping
that the journey was worth it
that the future is impacted by the good you put in
you leave this world at peace or in pain
surrounded by people you love
or not

love is slowly losing your mind

Love is slowly losing your mind

Love is patient love is kind
No
Love is slowly losing your mind
Love is feeling,
Feeling when they enter a room
Feeling when they look at you
Love is having your heart skip a beat
When they talk to you
When they see you
The real you
Love is trying to be the person’
The person they can love
Just as much as you love them
Losing yourself in their eyes
In their actions
In their heart
In yours

fast car

driving in a fast car
the wind whipping threw my hair
the pounding of the music in my ears
singing along with the music
pretending I can hear myself
my eyes watering because of the wind'
the road ahead
a silent reminder
that nothing good lasts
that life goes on
that the wind has to stop
the song has to end
why be afraid of it
all songs end
all roads stop
every morning begins anew
every time the sun comes out
it disappears back into the horizon
but the promise of tomorrow
is obsolete

silent

disappointment whispering at every corner
pride is not a voice in your soul
no longer a girl
only a voice
a voice
only
no
yelling at me to "just do it"
it's not that simple
it's not that easy
it seems that
no matter
how hard
I try
it's never enough
it will never be
never enough
for anyone
no matter
I'm fine
everything is fine
but it's not
it's not
fine
its
not just ok
it's hard
every
time
it gets harder
but
you don't see
and you never will
every action seems pointless
every word well-spoken goes unheard
unrewarded
every time
the light
unseen
my voice
unheard

awaiting unseen

the shadows I live in
the perfect camouflage
putting my mind at ease
no one can see me
but I sit there
observing
there but not
shifting in the silence
the silence that is unbearable
the smile on my face
a mask
my true feelings hidden
hidden in plain sight
looked over
unwilling to be understood
the silence I thrive in
the shadows a perfect blanket
to stay hidden
stay unseen
afraid to be seen
for the unknown
for things to change
suffering in silence
no flower blooms in the darkness
at some point it must see the light
it craves it
too much and it will die
too little and the same will happen
touchy things flowers are
but when they finally bloom
beautiful
shadows hiding its beauty
darkness hiding its light

this one moment

senses
This moment
when the sun hits me
a blanket
it illuminates my book
the musty smell of it
filling my nose
comforting me
this perfect moment
the cool wind
licking my skin
cool but not cold
a dream but not
perfect but imperfect
soft but crisp
my mind there but yet
submerged
in the land of the dreamers
the land of the living
lost in the world
lost in my head

music in my soul

music in my soul
like the words I cannot express
like a calmness nothing else brings
like a river that never loses its edge
the notes hit like a memory
that I have no problem replaying
the sourest of moods
suddenly nothing feels wrong
bobbing my head to the harmony
tapping my foot to the beat
the songs I know so well
the lullaby of old
an expression of emotion
I am perfectly happy to keep playing
