The Only Remedy for Wrongdoing

The only remedy for wrongdoing
	is to begin doing right.
The only lasting redress of grievance
is the continuous act of kindness.
This is our betrothal, our marriage,
	our family, children, friends.
Love stands waiting in the marketplace.
Who can afford to approach it?
We live in its ambience and breathe its expectation.

The giver of flowers brings us hope
	and asks nothing in return.

Loving You

These moments that I spend,
in sacred prayer for you,
for your soul and body given
in grace and beauty to the night,
the way you move through heaven,
angel, woman, here to bring this light,
touched with streams of love,
flowing in music to you,
around you, through you,
sending to your struggling self
release and comfort from within,
songs pouring through your sweetest dreams
of life and love and your giving heart
wrapped in tenderness,
imbued with love, held by holy knowing
of you beyond the world and in your peace,
belonging as you do to God Herself,
come from her to grace the world:
Oh, soul divine! Oh, blessing crowned
with golden light and smile bedewed!
Never has there been a time more precious than
these moments you let me spend
deeply loving you.

Thorny Weather

I, we, are only
a temporary arrangement
of atoms into molecules.
Why cherish or attack
such a cloud of impermanence?
You'll know you've reached the endless shore
when you sail into the sea of nothing.

I Laid Down a Heavy Burden

I laid down a heavy burden called yesterday,
another called tomorrow,
and finally one called today.

Afterward I felt an infinite lightness surround me
buoyed by the breezes embracing the eternal present
which never leaves and which we leave
at our own peril and to our own dismay:

There is not another
just the one that is us and our own self
resting in the embrace of timeless praise.

Today You Seem So Wondrous Fair

Today you seem so wondrous fair,
your lips and cheeks and eyes and hair
so touched with angel shining grace,
that I, poor beggar, take my seat
and wait in wonder at your feet,
to catch a glimpse of heaven’s face.

Some Insights From Prayer

There’s a power in your heart equal to the magnitude of a star.
The tide of your love can sweep away all cramped torments.
The symphony of your being overwhelms the dissonance of pain.
In your hand nestles the future of your every hope.
In your brightness glimmers the promise of endless days.

So, only remember your divinity.
Try to imagine the smile of God
when he made you an angel
and gave you to his creation
as a ray of angelic love.

Don't Come In Uninvited

Don't come in uninvited. Don't even knock. Wait for me to appear in your heart's ambit For I am, after all, the wisdom of your own mind. I will tell you the combination to my safe, a secret which changes every day sometimes every hour and then every moment. This should not puzzle you. You are the lock, the locksmith and the key.

How Does an Angel Do War?

How does an angel do war?

By shining resplendent within,
By rising with the rising light that is her being,
By consciousness of her very self,
By being the morning to which night surrenders,
By remembering always that every atom of her being is filled with light,
By being that beauty which transcends pain and suffering,
By simply being what God himself sees as her precious radiance.

You have all the armor you need to conquer this enemy.
You were born with it, and it has steadily grown in you
the way morning grows brighter and heaven comes to earth,
the way roses turn to the sun and the sun kisses roses,
the way you simply shine with the light that fills your heart,
the way you have of touching life so lightly,
the way you are who you so preciously are.

Only Quiet

I've found that the hardest thing for me to master is physical pain.
Because it speaks more loudly to body, mind, and soul.
I cannot shout it down nor forcibly push it away.
But in steady patience and humility
I can last it out with equanimity.
And once it becomes quiet
That quiet will be
The only thing
That ever
was.

Souvenir

She is sunrise and forgiveness,
she embraces the waiting hours
with the promised kiss of springtime
that resides within her smile.

She came in on a sunbeam
surrounded by a song
to restore my soul and give me hope
with the magic in her fingers
and the radiance of her heart.

She resides in sweet fulfillment
of the dream I dared not dream.
Now she shines on my tomorrows,
born of all our yesterdays,
the years I spent in wonder
just looking at her face.

So, I’ll spend a sweet forever
singing of her grace
from noon until November
in words no one can erase.
She’ll shine into the starlight
and rest in promised peace,
freed from all pain and sorrow
in endless, strong release.

Then, I’ll know I’ve found the answer
to my longing and my love,
and I’ll make my long goodbyes
to the glory of her memory
and her legend in the skies.
