Ayo Okpaku Poem
I fear i woyld always be
the lonely number like root three
if there is all thats good and right
why should my three be out of sight
Beneath a vicious square root sign
i wishi were the number nine
cos nine could cause a single trick
with just one simple arithmetic
i know i'll never see the sun
as 1.7321
such as my reality
more to my irretionality
our love would always smooth-sailby
together now we multiply
From a number we oprefer
rejiocing like an integer
We break free from moral bonds
and with the wave of magic wonds
our square root signs are all so good
and love for me is being renewed.

Ayo Okpaku Poem
"i know a formost designer called Mary Kay
Well,i know she was born in the month of may
but i cant remember the day
you know,she worked as an apprentice
in one of my big designer shops
sssh! hey! dont let them know what i did say
before i get one of Mr. Butchers shops
At the end of the month i give her her pay
she doesnt even wait she just jumps into the ray
Plase dont tell anyone this
back then i used to refer to her as miss
Just to recieve a hug and if possibly a kiss
Or fall into her vague rounds of hiss.
One day i proposed to her in a wonderful manner
On the day of our wedding there was a wedding
Performing at at the event was Tony Montana
we named our first child brandy
cos she loved to crush candy
and she loved our dog mandy,
we lived together in the south in a city so sandy"

Ayo Okpaku Poem
I laid my head down upon the shore
i dreamt a little space
i heard the great waves break and roar
The sun was on my side.
My lazy hands and fingers brown
played with the pebbles gray,
the waves came up and then down
most thundering and gay.
The pebbles, there were smooth and round
and warm upon my hand
like little people i had found
sitting among the sand.
the grains of sand so shinning small
soft through my fingers ran
the sun shore down upon it all
and so my dream began.
How all of this had been before,
how ages far away
i lay on some forgotten shore
as here i lay today.
I have forgotten when i came
or what my home might be
or by what strange and savaged name
i called this raging sea.
I only know the sun shone down
as it stiil shines today
and in my fingers long and brown
the little pebbles lay.

Ayo Okpaku Poem
T’was d day before Easter
And all through the woods
The bunnies were busy
packing their goods.
The eggs were all colored
so pretty and bright
all things were “GO”
for the big special night
The baskets were waiting all decorated
With care in hopes
That the bunny soon would be there
My little brother theophilus
Was asleep in his bed
While visions of Easter eggs
rolled round his head.
And with my pynjamas and
with the puppy on my lap
I had just settled down
For a quick little nap
When outside the window
I heard a great noise
I sprang from my chair and
Jumped over some toys.
As quick as a flash to the window I flew
I pulled up the shade and
Oh! What a view
The moon on the meadow cast
A great golden glow
And the wind blew the flowers
to and fro.
Then all of a sudden from
Out of no where came
Some lovely bunnies
Hopping here and there
Leading the pack with ears long
And funny was an all plump
White rabbit,
That’s right the EASTER BUNNY.
So up on each doorstep the bunnies did hop
With baskets of eggs lets
Hope they don’t drop just at that moment
from the
Porch down below
Came the stamping of feet
T’was d rabbit I knew
He was surrounded by eggs
Which had been carefully dyed?
Easter eggs galore he soon
Would hide.
He’s eyes were all twinkles
He’s nose so pink
(and I cant be so sure but I think he did wink)
He uttered no sound as he hopped all about
Hiding the eggs and leaving
No doubt that the easter bunny
has come with baskets of
happiness for children so dear.

Ayo Okpaku Poem
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.
His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

Ayo Okpaku Poem
I saw d stars and moon
bow before your feet
Istooped and wonder
right then my heart
begins to wonder
and then i maevel at your beauty
and the spectacular
feature of your gaity
Your blue eyes
made me think i was in heaven
but when i saw the moon and stars above me
then i knew i was right in my paven
your grandeur was glorious
my behaivour was unsteady
and right in your heart
i knew you thought i was 'notorious'
you lookedgorgious in
your beautiful attire
Iknew not what to say
and i couldn't retire
you walked close
to me and for my name
Iwas suprised because you
cared less about fame
I mumbled out Ga-bri-el
and you said yours was Mabel
.....watch out for the concluding part.

Ayo Okpaku Poem
A bowl of pop-corn and some french pies
a glass of lemonade and a bread slice
the tale looks quite nice
but i don't care whats the price.
A parcel of candy and a bowl of moss
some pizza and some buns with the cross
I'm really at a gross
all this could cause the shrieking of a purse.
OH!, a roller coaster
some sand-witch and a bread toaster
a tray of pork
and potatoes and chicken in bulk
Towards the rear comes a plump boy
to me his more like a toy
at the back of his shirt is the name Roy
on the front is the picture of the city troy.
It's becoming a circus
Roy's brought along his caucus
amongst them is my neighbor Marcus
really a slim thorny cactus.
A tall looking clown
with a stern frown
some children with crowns
and some horses brown.

Ayo Okpaku Poem
A GIANT @ 50.
Countless human colors;
Within, across, races;
God's earthly flower garden;
Blessing to mankind.
Nigeria mother stock;
Home of germination;
Divine manifestation,
Until whole earth bedded.
Beauty more than a trait;
Diversity most beautiful;
Monocular too boring;
Races beauty of earth.
Races like rainbow;
Earth horizon beautified,
To His glory above;
All that dwell rejoice
Land of freedom;
Land of the setting sun;
In Britain you rose;
Freedom in sought.
Land of great heroes;
Land of revolutionaries;
Nigeria or liberty;
Beautiful seashore home;
Pride of Africa;
Symbol of blackness;
Great black icon.
Thou shall rise again;
African Union enshrined;
Thy labor to bear fruit;
Bounty, peace, freedom.
Countless human colors;
Within, across, races;
God's earthly flower garden;
Blessing to mankind.
Nigeria mother stock;
Home of germination;
Divine manifestation,
Until whole earth bedded.
Beauty more than a trait;
Diversity most beautiful;
Monocular too boring;
Races beauty of earth.
Races like rainbow;
Earth horizon beautified,
To His glory above;
All that dwell rejoice.

Ayo Okpaku Poem
Oh! yes i knew we had
many things in common
i asked you out for a bowl
of popcorn and a glass of leonade
but you said " you would like to see
the star parade
I was downcast and said alright
and then you said you would be right
there with alnight
I gasped and left
throughtout i thought
about you
your pictoral imagination
stuck to me like glue
I could see your eyes
and said, "how could there be so blue"?
your nationality, huh, well, i guess
i got no clue
that night i dream't
we were together
sitting on a pew
waiting to see the early morning dew
