Julia Smith Poem
my mother died,
i was to die with her.
that was the pact, you see,
my dad & i made together.
while my mother died,
i never left her side;
over & over calling her name ,
hoping to send a spark to the flame.
but still my mother died.
now i'm naught but a shell;
because the day my mother died
i cursed my soul to hell.
i'll never be free
of this wrath brought on by me,
for every hardship i suffer
lets her know how much i love her.
but since my mother died
i wonder if she can hear
my screams of pain & anquish,
wishing she were near?
and though she's dead & gone
i swear forever long
tears for her I'll always cry
until the day i die.

Julia Smith Poem
Love doesn't try to tie you down
held hostage, gagged and bound.
Restraints won't keep love close to your heart
chained by your side, never to part.
The harder you try to make love stay,
you'll only find you've pushed it away.
Love can't be tested like a child in class
There are no rules to making love last.
Loves' not cut and dry; it's not black or white
Love is not about being wrong or right.
Love is trust and faith and simply believing
that Love free to go is Love that's not leaving.

Julia Smith Poem
You make me happy/
You make me sad.
You treat me like a queen/
You hurt me bad.
You want me to stay/
You tell me to leave.
You say you trust me/
You don't believe me.
You're caring and sweet/
You're cruel and degrading.
See,I'm on my feet/
Now feel my love fading.

Julia Smith Poem
I'm so tired,
don't want to do this anymore.
Please just leave,
and be sure to close the door.
No, I don't want to talk,
I want to be left alone.
Now who the hell is that?
Where's my damn phone?
Just what part of go
don't you understand?
You turn and you leave,
and don't come back again.
I'm sorry, but it's just
been one of those days.
Don't try to tell me
everything's okay.
'Cause you don't know;
you don't have a clue
about the hell that
I've been going through.
Never mind, forget it.
It's none of your concern.
Just another lesson
that I'll have to learn.
So please just leave me
to drown in my sorrow.
Yeah sure, I promise
I'll call you tomorrow
whenever I wake up.
I don't know what time.
I'm sure by then every-
thing will be fine.
So I'll see you later,
don't forget the door.
Oh, God, please help me.
I can't do this anymore!

Julia Smith Poem
she sits across the room and smiles so sweet;
no one is aware that underneath
she hides her pain from all around;
little girl lost, never to be found.
they say she's crazy, watch out for her,
she's not known to play well with others.
but if that's true , then all i can say
is maybe they should walk in her shoes for a day.
i think she's beautiful and strong for sure,
because in spite of all she's had to endure,
she can sit across the room and still smile at me.
you see, it's what's in her heart that sets her free.
we all have our crosses; some are harder to bear,
and when i feel like giving up, i'll see her sitting there,
smiling so sweet and hiding from the world
that brave and beautiful, that strong little girl.

Julia Smith Poem
Each day is the same; we all sit here and wait,
listening for the sound of the chains on the gate.
You see, that’s our signal; that’s our cue;
that’s how we know what we're to do.
We all soon learn what each sound is for,
even before someone's open the door.
We get excited when the laundry is clean,
the high point of our week is the day we get canteen!
For an hour of TV, we all rush to line up;
even to take a shower we have to sign up.
Everyone gets quiet when they're doing mail call,
maybe good news for some, but not for all.
Yes, each day is the same, we all sit here and wait;
listening for that sound of the chains on the gate.
One day soon, they'll be sounding for me,
and I'll walk out these doors, finally free!

Julia Smith Poem
Hey girl! Whatcha yellin' for?
I can't hear you through that thick door!
Do you really think they're gonna let you out
when all you do is stand there and shout?
You may as well chill, things will be fine.
I'm telling you, girl, we're tired of hearin' you whine.
You're gonna have to learn how to play the game,
or you'll just keep gettin' more of the same.
Don't matter want you want; you do as they say,
and just ing deal with it day after day.
It's a lot easier if you take things in stride.
Listen to me girl, 'cause I'm on your side.
'Cause we're all here in the same boat
and we all have to work to keep it afloat.
But getting pissed ain't the answer, that's a fact.
Yeah, laugh all you want girl, but look where you're at!

Julia Smith Poem
I think of you, so far away.
If only it didn't have to be this way.
It's been so long since I've seen your face,
trapped as I am in this cold, cold place.
If only I knew I could hold you again,
to be in your arms, free from this pain.
If only your lips could touch my brow,
coaxing me as only you know how.
Your voice softly whispering my name,
The thought of it sets my body aflame.
But here I sit in my cold lonely cell;
each day we're apart is a living hell.
If only I knew that when this nightmare ends
I'll be back in your arms, safe once again.

Julia Smith Poem
In a pond,
there lives a frog
who looks and talks
like a polywog.
When he's asked,
Why is this so?
he looks up and says,
I don't know.
Now truth be told
we're none the same
and you can call it
by any name;
but it still holds true
that a rose is a rose,
so go and stick that
up your nose!
Now it's no matter
if you're here or there,
'cause It could be anywhere.
I'll let you decide
if it's up or it's down,
or will a smile
turn into a frown?
