Emotional Poet

I gave myself this name because it describes me well
I enjoy writing about my happiness and where I fail
Just by reading my poetry you're getting to know me
If I haven't introduced myself I go by the name Key
Keyonda is my full name although I don't like it
So I use either name depending who I'm talking with
I started writing poetry at the age of sixteen
Keeping me less stressed and balanced in between
An emotional person is constantly busy in the mind
Although on the outside everything seems just fine
Expressed emotions are better when written down
Emotions that are real gives them their unique sound.

Why Use Foul Language

Are nasty words used to express emotions to a heighten degree
Am i suppose to understand you any more than you understand me
Vocabulary words isn't hard to learn and to use
I can use words that aren't so nasty and still blow a fuse
Stand up comedy isn't the same due to foul language
When it comes to being professional how do you manage
I know God confused the languages but it cant be that bad
The fact you cant find better words is completely sad
It would upset you if your child imitated that
The bad behavior parents display even the good words they lack
Isn't this world ugly and nasty enough
Do you really need foul language for someone to call your bluff
Your grandma would attempt to wash your mouth out with soap
Such language puts you and the devil in the same boat
Find a better way of trying to express your pain, anger and commotion
So every person would be impressed and understand your emotion.

Raised Without A Father

Being raised without a father is like living with one ear and one eye
Disabled is the way the child would feel leaving him to wish he would die
Where are the fathers that are making the babies these days
Being a father isn't a game or just a short phase
It's a gift, a privilege and a responsibility
You can't disappear then reappear when that child is a teen
They need you because most things come in pairs
Do you really think the child would turn out right with you not being there
From day one it needs to hear the sound of your voice
Being made and brought into the world wasn't that child's choice
Child support won't cut it to view your problem solved
Being there financially isn't the only thing involved
The judge forced you to do that to make up the time away from me
It's better to be there for your child than to be called "Father Deadbeat

Through The Eyes of A Childless Woman

Every day that I see you I see you as a strong lady
Through many trials and joys taking care of your babies
Who can speak for you with no child of their own
Every child varies so there is no right or wrong
I love the patience you have and I find it so amazing
The thought of me having a child sends my heart racing
I can't help but stare at you with much admiration
The way you guide your children and give them direction
For nine months you carried them so close to your hips
Then for eighteen years or more teaching and giving tips
To be a parent to a child must take a lot of energy
The day I become a mom it's like you I want to be
Being a mom requires teaching them the facts of life
Using laws and principles hoping they turn out right
You make a wonderful mom and you do your job well
In your quest of parenthood I doubt your efforts fail

My Challenges With Friendships

I have challenges in friendships because of what I expect
To me cultivating a friendship is like playing a game of roulette
For this person i tend to go above and beyond or go all out
Not giving it time to see what the person is really about
Its a challenge because they may not work as hard as you do
Then you're wondering if its any worth looking for someone new
Learning lessons from past experiences that you don't want to repeat
Struggling with fear of rejection with new ones you meet
You want to except who they are and take what you can get
But at the same time not be that person that they easily forget
Friendships are a two way street but most drive one way
It would be nice to find a friend with qualities like mine one day
As each one fails and you keep starting all over again
It becomes a big challenge trying to find that special friend.

Things Doesn't Always Have To Make Sense

Things don't always have to make sense because no one makes the rules
I can say and do things the way i want because i do what I choose
God has given me free will so who are you to take that away
There is no established rules when it comes to what i do and say
There does exist a right way but i want to take a different route
That's what makes us different from what comes up out of our mouths
What i do may not makes sense to you because that's what makes me, me
No two people are the same so you may not could see what i see
What you find tacky and ugly i might find as a treasure
What you find boring and sad might bring me untold pleasure
No one can dictate or tell another how to be
The one dictating might care a lot while the other one is care free
I'm easily amused and happy and can see a whole lot out of nothing
Just because a person has their ducks in a roll don't mean they actually have something
Maybe i like being weird and i might at times seem dense
But i really don't care that much about everything making sense.

I Thought I Was Pregnant

That moment arose when I wasn't feeling too good
Didn't get a monthly reminder as I normally would
I was unsure if I should tell you or wait for a sign
We're married so you can't say the baby isn't mine
The night I told you your reaction made me uneasy
Wasn't sure if you had thoughts of leaving me
Hope you're not angry because we both did this
Anytime we decide to copulate we both take a risk
It's a false alarm because I thought I was pregnant
By your reaction our love would have been stagnant
Now I know where I stand if an accident happens
Where a baby starts is where our marriage ends
It's understandable if you were nervous or scared
My mom was as well when at sixteen I was bared
Always keep in mind that we're both in this together
Just another storm to what we've already weathered

Words You Can't Take Back

We have all had that moment of frustration
We search for words that hurt out of desperation
Having a hard time sorting out our feelings
That's the moment we become harsh in our dealings
There are times we fight to be understood
Wishing we can take back the words if we could
It doesn't pay to speak out when we're mad
We say things that leave scars which is bad
Relationships are lost and love isn't regained
Scars can heal but the words always remain
Your emotions are running high don't go no further
Whatever you say at present can ruin the future
When it comes to anger it's an honest and true fact
Never say anything you know you can't take back

Who Needs Holidays

Do we really need a holiday to say i love you
Do we really need a date to do the things we do
Spend money on a gift anytime of the year
Do we really need the fourth of July to relax and have a beer
Valentine's Day is here so you express your love
Any day is priceless when it comes to kisses and hugs
Mothers day should be everyday not just a day in May
Call her or send a card and express your love in different ways
I guess the month of June is a set time for your father
If this is the only time you cherish your parents why even bother
Parents spend time with their kids and give out candy most feen
Is that the only close time you spend because its Halloween
Lets not talk about Christmas because Christ isn't getting the gifts
If its about him why complain, keep receipts and have misfits
Thanksgiving is a meal that shouldn't be done annually but every week
So without holidays it seems family time would be bleak.

I Don't Understand

So you say and do things I don't get
I don't understand
You treat me in ways I'll never forget
I don't understand
Then other days I cant read you
I don't understand
Amazingly I see straight through you
I don't understand
Are you aware of your actions
I don't understand
Am I apart of your infatuations
I don't understand
What does everything mean
I don't understand
We're just like a movie scene
I don't understand
Why do you look at me that way
I don't understand
And you wonder why I stay away
I don't understand
You remind me of a light switch
I don't understand
Friendly or flirty which is which
I don't understand
How come you can't be straight with me
I don't understand
Especially if you don't see what I see
I don't understand
Your secrets and subtleties are way overdue
I don't understand
It's easy for me because I'm so over you
And this I do understand.
