Sweet Words

Verses he writes to me so sweet,
I dare say without them I am incomplete.

The Suitcase

A blue-eyed man
knocked on the door to my heart.
I opened.
But the ways of life got us crushed
I realize I have to get unbroken.
Pack up the suitcase, leave for other parts
on to the unspoken.

Holiday

Abu Dhabi that's where we'll go
always sunshine no rain no snow
frolic fun and lots of time
catch me up i'm behind
take you with me?
sure if you want to.
but don't dare to bring that laptop with you

Ambition

You stopped me on my way to the well,
said you had something to me to tell.
Something new so I listened to you
Until your words started to ring untrue.
You spoke of those anti- and non- folds
god, even before Colbert those arguments were old.
I came to see it your way
that of course the weightier hold sway
Can it change? I wondered I thought
But of course by then you had been bought.
Small me could see
the world shrinking to make more size for thee.

"shadows"

The second time around seems harder.
Perhaps slogging through the heavy air,
or seeking that old fire
casts over everything a dim, dark pallor.

Past victories gained have been broken.
Reclaiming new footing, and stalking
rougher higher peaks and eddies
vies with anticipated promises and fortune.

Third time may be much brighter.
Surely the lot revolutions, turns wheels
to a completely fresh canvas?
Sweeps away cobwebs and traps something righter.

Staring At Ashes

The morning I woke in your arms, I asked you
to close the curtains round the bed of our bliss -
and you did.
The next day I tore off the covers
trying to give you your comeuppance
to push past perceived reluctance
what a petulant, brash, fussy fit.
Now shivering and stripped and cold,
I wonder will we ever nestle again
under the blanket of love,
like that Sunday of old.

Whatever?

Storms carouse
but I idle by.
Chase the rat?
But he's faster than I can fly.
Don't give in, pay the rent
for it all pans out in the end.

Another Way

Chartered course,
veered off of.
Always thinking
I was the boss.
A boot in my behind
Knocked down the pedestal,
now must submit my will, my all.
A defeat you say?
No, just a better way.
