Gender based violence

Gender-based violence, why all the silence?
We walk the walk; we talk the talk.
With all the violence
there is only silence.

Women cry at night,
feeling they have no right.
Rape every hour
leaves them sour.

Beatings, rape, and murder,
there is no way to take it further.
Men treat women like scum,
while they are numb.

Girls are raped at a young age
 like animals in a cage.
That is life on the Cape Flats,
where some people live like rats.

Paying a medical bill
Is a battle that’s uphill
Living off the government,
they don’t earn a cent.

Every day they must find a way.
Without income, it’s a difficult day.
They steal and plunder,
they would steal your thunder.

Gender-based violence.
These gangs you won’t silence.
They live in violence
and die in silence.

Weekend violence

6 People killed in one weekend
Just like that their lives end
The gangs laugh all the way
They will never stay out of your way

The gangs are fierce and unscrupulous
To kill someone is for them a plus
It is in the gang’s territory
You will only become a memory

The gangs rob, rape, and kill
For the families it’s like a bitter pill
The gangs get order to kill at will
Or the boss will order on them a kill

The bosses’ rules with an iron fist
You disobey them you on the death list
If the gangs have financially lost
It will be your life and cost

That’s why the gang kills people without blinking
They do not want to be the ones sinking
The boss sees this
To him it’s bliss.

Killing as many people as it takes
These are very high stakes
The gangs do what is takes
In this case it was killing that it takes

Springtime

Spring is in the air
Love is everywhere
I see a girl walking in the street
My heart skips a beat

On the fence sits a lonely dove
She is waiting for love
She spots another dove
And she knows it’s time for love.

There is no time for dating
So, they start with their mating
He takes no chances
He starts with his love dances

Round and round he dances
No time for taking chances
Very soon they start mating
Because there is no time for dating.

All in a day

It’s all in a day
It’s the only way
Living day by day
They capture the way

Nowhere to go
Life is so slow
Live today
Die today

Death on the street
To live this way is no treat
They live on the street
With disgust they meet

At 14 they kill
that is a bitter pill
They don ‘t care if they spill
Your blood at will.

In the street
They will meet
To kill on the street
Is what they need

To Rape kill and Mame
To them it’s all the same.
If they don’t rape kill and Mame
To them it will be a shame

They will be kicked out by their own
They will die all alone
In a field lying on their back
Dead in a burnt-out shack.

Cape Flats - 1

So, maybe you can tell
Heaven from hell,
blue skies from rain,
a day full of pain.

Can you trade a walk in the park
for a glimpse of the dark?
We are the captured souls, like fish in bowls.
Do you want to exchange, from living in chains?

Beating around the bush is not of any use,
in the blink of an eye, you will die.
Life in the Cape Flats
has been taken over by brats.

They will rape, kill and maim.
even though they don’t know your name.
Every gang has a name,
they also have no shame.

People here live in fear.
There is always some parent who sheds a tear.
Young girls falling pregnant
from boys who will not leave a remnant.

A child heavily pregnant with a child
has been left alone like an animal in the wild.
The boyfriend is long gone
making a call to another one.

Parents going to work, trying to make a living
leave their kids at home in a life so unforgiving.
Kids must look after themselves,
even though the oldest is only 12.

Most households live a life of struggle.
That is a life so radical.
The gangs rule the street.
To them, somebody must bleed.

The community forms groups
but everybody has their moves.
The gangs make them fearful.
If they cross the gangs, they will soon be tearful.

The gangs of the Cape Flats
are like wolves in a pack.
If you cross them at your own risk,
you will end up on their hit list.

The gangs have no regard for the law.
To them, the law is a flaw.
Drugs rule their lives.
They will do anything to survive.

The Cape Flats has become a hive of activity.
If you are not careful, here you’ll meet your destiny.
Known for the activity of many gangs.
The shots fired, bang, bang, bang.

Innocent people run away.
There is no way they would want to stay.
They have no chance of leaving.
On the Cape flats, their lives have little meaning.

Mommys Boy

What makes you kill a little boy
His only joy is his toy
At 5 he is still a baby
And that’s no maybe

A gang member shot him in the head.
He has been left in the street for dead
Was not even in school
Shot in the head by a fool

This is all he ever did everyday
to eat his breakfast and play
Not a care in his life and mind
yet he was treated very unkind

Never will he play with his toy
the gang came and took the boy
he was killed by a grown man
The reason, because he can

Walk Away

For the life of me I do not understand
Why people cannot lend a hand
To children who are being abused
And children who are being used

Being abused by a grown up
After lying all day in the pub
At home abusing his own
she won’t let out a moan

Whenever they are alone
To nobody this is known
At age 10 she lost her virginity
Also her dignity

Age 14 now
And she made a vow
He will pay
He will have his day

With his life he will pay
Death is the only way.
The baby in her she will abort
Even if she must go to court

One day they were alone at home
He feels he is on the thrown
In ten minutes, he will be slain
Killed with little pain.

He was found in her bed
The bed turned red as he bled
Quietly she walks away
She won’t ever again be the prey.

Five minutes

Anxiously he waits for his wife
She was supposed to be home at five
He needs to teach her a lesson
He knows she will after this session

five minutes later, she opens the door
Without greeting he hits her to the floor
He promises tonight he will give her a hiding
Never mind the pleading

He beats her face to a pulp
Bleeding from the scalp
He shows no sign of stopping
and she cannot stop sobbing

He starts kicking her
She is full of fear
She tries to get up
She slips in her own blood

All afternoon he had been drinking
Beating her without blinking
Eventually he relents
Now he can boast to his friends.

He is the boss in his house
A complete madhouse
The sad part is she does not report him
He sits on the couch and hums a hymn.

Cape Flats - 2

Murder and mayhem on the Cape Flats.
This is life and that is that.
From the youngest to the oldest,
the murderers are bold.

Murderers kill at random.
On their heads should be a ransom.
Every day is a killing season,
killing for no reason.

Children cry and mothers die,
living by the sword.
The murderers must be caught.

Gangs for whom killing is a must,
mothers and fathers want them bust.

Teenagers join gangs to kill.
For their parents, it is a bitter pill.
The Cape Flats is a killing field,
if you live there, there is no shield.

Love all around

Love abound
I feel it all around
Love is in the air
Life is a love affair

I am surrounded by my love all day
Living like it’s the only way
Let’s dance off the floor
Dancing out the door

Love is on our side
Love we won’t hide
Love won’t fill me with pride
But I will bring my side

You fit me like a glove
Like two doves in love
I will dance around you like a dove
All day long showing my love.

Keeping her happy my way
That is what I am going to do every day
For me it’s a way of life
That’s what I want for my wife.

Can’t bear the thought of being without my wife
She is completely and totally my whole life
The best place ai night
Is to sleep next to her, tight.

I feel love around
Let love abound
Let love be the motto in life
And there will be no shortage of love in your life.
