Walk Away

For the life of me I do not understand
Why people cannot lend a hand
To children who are being abused
And children who are being used

Being abused by a grown up
After lying all day in the pub
At home abusing his own
she won’t let out a moan

Whenever they are alone
To nobody this is known
At age 10 she lost her virginity
Also her dignity

Age 14 now
And she made a vow
He will pay
He will have his day

With his life he will pay
Death is the only way.
The baby in her she will abort
Even if she must go to court

One day they were alone at home
He feels he is on the thrown
In ten minutes, he will be slain
Killed with little pain.

He was found in her bed
The bed turned red as he bled
Quietly she walks away
She won’t ever again be the prey.

Powerful poem. My siblings and I were the subject of much abuse of all kinds so your poem touches a nerve in me. In the 50's and 60's in America there werent the protections there are today.
