That Girl, a World Away

That girl, a world away
Does she think of me?
That girl, a world away
How to make her stay?

That girl, a world away
We would never be
That girl, a world away
Sleeps when I'm awake

That girl, a world away
I cannot unsee
That girl, a world away
Haunts me every day

My Place Below the Hill

Fresh ocean air
Oh, take me there!
To the place below the hill
Three hundred years
I hold it dear
Ancestors can be felt still

For all I've roamed
My heart knows home
And it cannot get it's fill
How does it long!
For ancient song
And the view from mine own sill

A seat of peace
My mind's at ease
Oh, the terrors a place can kill
Soon I'll return
All else to burn
And allow my heart to spill

Without

Through memory's window I see it plain
A time of perfect content
A place we called just yours and mine
Where all our time was spent

But memories tame a burning heart
The window just a mirage
Time won't retreat to before our part
So I'll hold tight to our collage

Never Met

You could say we never met
But I let you into my world
Muse come down from on high
In person personified,
Forever intertwined

Moving in different directions
Still you will remain
A part of my poem
Gentle and kind,
Forever intertwined

You were good to me
Always so sweet
I was horrible
We didn't meet
I think you're dear,
Forever intertwined

I give you my word
Unoriginal and old
A word I know I've broken
A promise I still intend,
Forever intertwined

I can see your glow
Walking out to me
Cutting through the haze
I cannot break my gaze,
Forever intertwined

Am I delusional?
I know that I am
But it's impossible to say goodbye
I'll carry you around with me
I don't even have to try,
Forever intertwined

I thought I'd killed this part of me

June 26

Violently thrashing and jerking and pulling
It implores me to act
Desperate to stay alive in it's final hour
Reminding me of our pact

It pleads, it begs, It cries to me
All the while concealing it's fangs
It tears me apart inside
It hammers, it pounds, and it bangs

A love earst alive and warm and real
Now cold and cooling yet
Longing to be revived, it's fighting
Refusing to lose the bet

Once nurtured now neglected, alone and afraid
I must let it die
And to ensure it won't return a spectre tomorrow
I'll stare it in the eye

A Line

I see you in the faces of 10,000 strangers

There's Heaven

At the center of the storm you'll find the calm
In hell, in hell; there's heaven
Peace has been beside you all along
In hell, in hell; there's heaven
When the clouds part you'll hear birdsong
In hell, in hell; find heaven

The Echo Returns Not

Into the void I'm screaming
The echo returns not
No response, even to my breathing
An echo returns not

You used to be my mirror
A reflection I have not
You've gone to someone dearer
My reflection I have lost

Am I numb to all five senses?
A ghost alone I wander
You've left me in all tenses
A ghost alone I ponder
