Questions From a Child

What happens when
the sun shines bright?

What happens when
everythings alright?

Is it that feeling
of standing tall and high?

Is it that twinkle
in the sky?

Whats underneath
your mask?

Why do you hide
from everything I ask?

Who is it that
makes you smile?

Even just for a little while?

Who would you give
your heart out to if you could?

Do you even think you should?

Does it hurt
when you fall?

Do you even feel anything at all?

Are you afraid of the end?

To me its just a friend.

Apart

i'm holding on but your letting go.
i just dont get it i really dont know.
but im still here waiting and i dont really know why.
but theres something that tells me theres still time.
just a little longer and we could have been
but the pains worse than its ever been.
you said i love you and i said it back
but neither of us meant it like that.
and now were both left broken
shattered to pieces
words left unspoken
left in the creases
of my heart so torn apart
it was your idea that we needed time apart.

Forever

forever was what i could see
but now i know that it could never be
you took my hand
i grabbed your arm
but it wasnt as i planned
you did me harm.
now my heart aches for you
and the sight of your face
theres too much to do
and just not enough pace
forever was what i wanted
i told you i would wait.
but now my heart is haunted
by what i see on your face.

My World

your smile is like sunshine
i will always smile back

your voice is like a song
i will always listen deeply

your presence is like the wind
i will always embrace it

your laugh is like irony
i will always laugh with you

your hugs are as warm as the sun
i will never let you go

your scent is like the air
it is all i breathe

you are my world
never forget that.

A Cold Day

out in the field
struggling to see tomorrow

humankind screaming
for another breath of air

running in circles
nowhere to hide

frightened souls
comforted by death

only way out
is to kill

hopes and dreams
buried beneath rubble

tears forced down the cheeks
of innocence

the sun sets
and the nights are yet to fall asleep

but the arms of tomorrow
bring nothing but pain

in the fields of war
tomorrow will be the same.

Lost

You took my hand,
You kissed me,
I didn’t understand
Why you wanted me,

But for some strange reason,
I wanted you too,
It was fall season,
I let go of you,

Regret rests in my heart,
As do you,
Its tearing me apart,
I wonder if you feel this way too,

Now were right back where we started,
Trying to bring the memories back,
It hurts me that we parted,
It was strength that I lack,

But now I lay here,
Waiting for you,
Leaving behind the fear,
Because I think I love you.

Sunshine

gods smile
the warmth of his love
shining upon us
watching from above

clouding the earth
from the clouds themselves
with bright sunshine
showing love to ourselves

night has awoken
the sun is put to rest
the moonlight shines
sunshine opressed

just to show
how bright his love shines
even in the dark
the great moonlight

blanketing the slumber
of all human minds
to awake in the morning
bringing back the sunshine.

Betrayal

The imprisonment of peace,
"Betrayed me, betrayed me you have!"
"Betrayed you, betrayed you i have."
Darkness,
Somewhat calming,
The essence of life,
Adventure,
And love,
Slowly slips away from my grip.
Lighthouse,
Open the door to find a beast,
Unexplainable.
No shape,
No size,
No form.
Though its eyes,
Like a wandering ocean of excitement and mischief.
"Betrayed me, betrayed me you have!"
"Betrayed you, betrayed you i have..."
Reality grabs a hold of me,
Like a small child wandering about,
Blood,
Tears of a friend fall upon my chest,
"Betrayed me, betrayed me you have..."
"Betrayed you, no, betrayed you i have not."

A New Friend

Sparkle,
Sparkle,
The heavens cry their icy tears.
God tucks in his children,
1 foot,
2 feet,
3 feet,
4 feet,
Paw prints embedded in our backyard blanket,
"Tap, Tap,"
Gravity challenges the icicles.
The curtains of heaven unravel to expose its eye.
God's message is clear,
Stop,
Enjoy,
Plenty of time to cleanse our minds,
The sight out my window was not that of snow, or ice,
But of opportunity,
Like an old movie,
Standing outside my window,
Holding up a boom box playing the song of life.
Reality.
Tugging on my arm like a child asking to play,
Open the front door to join the children of now,
Meet my new best friend,
Reality.

Special Person

That smile, whose face it sits upon,
Smiled at me,
Whose hugs ignite the flame in my heart,
Hugged me,
Whose memories could last a life time,
Were remembered
Tears of joy appearing upon our cheeks,
Fell from me,
Someone special returned to me.
