Elizabeth Gasperecz Poem
O Lost and Weary Knight
A heavy heart has led you to this hidden grove
This fortress nestled in warm darkness
Come to me; collapse into my outstretched arms
We will fall among the tender bluebells
Rest your tired head upon my lap
And feel ... With every breath exhaled
The sorrows weighing upon your anguished brow
Disappearing ... Taking to flight on agile wings
Dissolving... into trickling rays of sunlight
I will collect each happiness we discover together
String them along, into a glimmering crown for your head
Clasp your hand in mine
Allow me ... to kiss away those cold, heavy tears
As I cradle you to sleep with gentle lullabies
While time ... Slowly fades away into nothing
And locks us eternally in our hidden fortress ...
I will give you peace, my Lost and Weary Knight

Elizabeth Gasperecz Poem
Rest, darling
I will tend to those weary eyes
With sweet, soft kisses
Until with slumber your lashes fall heavy
Worry not, my love
Let my words fill your mind
Caress every troubling thought
Until they fade away into darkness
Lie still, my dear
All you need is the comfort of my voice
Drink in the solace of each whisper
As secrets find rest softly beneath your skin
Breath in
As I lay myself to rest
Forever inside your heart
Relish the love pulsing through your veins
Have peace, my love
Tonight we need only to be
Two hearts, two minds
Beating as one
Savor this warmth
It is for but a moment
And flees in a breath of wind

Elizabeth Gasperecz Poem
There-
Scattered along the shore
Buried in sand
Do you see?
Glistening in sunlight
Tiny shards of glass
Small treasures
Waiting
To be discovered
Collecting little gems
Carefully one by one
Gently
Fragile jewels deserve
The tender’st care
Hold them up before
Glorious sunlight
Store away safely
Deep within the heart
Remember this prize
In the darkest hours
Rays of sun soon
Will sparkle upon
These precious gems
These tiny shards of hope.

Elizabeth Gasperecz Poem
Although you are gone,
Dearest Blue Eyes,
You are everywhere
In every breath of wind
I hear your mournful sighs
In every ocean wave
The lonely tears you cried
Your sadness
Clings heavy in sea air
Among grains of sand
lies every shattered dream
As anguish rendered your blue eyes
Heavy with slumber eternal
the sea stole you away
Swallowed you up in its depths
To lie in the hollows of desolation
And my heart
Followed you in the waves
Beyond the darkness
Although you are gone
My dearest Blue Eyes
You are everywhere; in everything.

Elizabeth Gasperecz Poem
Can innocence lost
Be ever returned
Or a heart, tainted and broken
Be cleansed, made whole once more?
Can a tree, longing for summer's warmth
Summon its leaves from cold autumn grounds
To return to naked branches
That it may feel joyful and alive again?
Can a child, disillusioned
Relive broken dream
Changing fate
To find naivety return?
Can joy be had in innocence lost
Or beauty be discovered, resting in sadness?
When birth of spring and warmth of summer pass by
Till all that remains is the still and quiet of winter
Will warmth be rekindled?

Elizabeth Gasperecz Poem
Vicious ocean waves
One after another
Beating
Beating the spirit
Endless winter
Fighting sunshine
Freezing the heart
Can any defeat
An eternal night?
What chance can one have
In beating this foe?
The enemy
Discouragement
Dragging victims down
Crushing beliefs
Smothering light
Laughing
Laughing
At all suffering
And yet-
There - look closely
One star in the night
A sparkle of the eye
A beat of the heart
Leading from darkness
To beautiful light
From depths of anguish
To gentle sunshine
a glimmer of hope
Beats deep within all
draws from despair
Making hearts swell
A glorious chance
To stand triumphant
To smile once more.

Elizabeth Gasperecz Poem
Sit in my backyard
Listen to crickets chirp
Pretend freeway noise
Are really
Ocean waves
Breathe in
A sweet fragrance
Of spring flowers
Mixed with
Neighbor's cigarette smoke
Watch cows
Grazing peaceful
See war planes
Racing overhead
Taste sweet blackberries
Hoping not to be poisoned
By pesticide
Smile as young children
Run and laugh
Pretend their parents
aren't really
screaming at eachother
All this
Can be found
in my own backyard.

Elizabeth Gasperecz Poem
Man on the moon-
Why so sad tonight?
Do you see
all the world's plight?
Bombs are flying
there is no peace
As we search
for some release
The poor and weak
die of poverty
While others lounge
in the lap of luxury
Doors locked tight
criminals wander free
Living in constant fear
there's no security
Man on the Moon
that's why you're sad tonight
Because you see
us wallow in this plight.

Elizabeth Gasperecz Poem
O,
Dearest Blue Eyes
You've been drinking
The cup of bitter sadness
Your mind poisoned
Fooling all
With a sweet smile
Misery
Secretly devouring you
Agony so intoxicating
Vision so distorted
Only one little bullet
Would stop the pain
Now
Your pain is gone
My Dearest Blue Eyes
But you left shards
Of one little bullet
Forever trapped
Inside our hearts
O,
Dearest Blue Eyes,
You will be missed.

Elizabeth Gasperecz Poem
I know you want me
To open up
Free myself
But darling -
Aren't I beautiful
Behind this rose tinted glass?
I've grown up in this prison
Built it myself
Made it glamorous and sparkling
Hoping all would ignore
The wretch
Locked inside
Here I've been
Trapped so long
I've forgotten
How to get out
Please -
Don't turn away!
Maybe you can be the one
To break through
The one to save me
Yet -
As you disappear
I can do nothing
You can't hear my cries
The glass is too thick
No one can see
Lonely tears
Streaming down my face
They are hidden
Behind this lovely
Rose tinted glass.
