The Poem of Big Words

In lieu of tempestuous behavior
Please read the words I write
A colloquium of emotions
Oh, what an equivocal sight

I'm a kleptomaniac of pain
Feeding off the reaction
A ventriloquist of theft
So idiosyncratic

And in this conglomeration
Of acculturation by design
I live life by a pseudoynm
Pretending that it's mine

Hurt People

Hurt people tend to hurt people
They need someone else to suffer
Shattered hearts just longing
To be made of something tougher

Perhaps they aren't used to kindness
Or faith in humanity was stripped away
Maybe everyone kept walking out
When they were being begged to stay

Hurt people live in the hopelessness
You can't see the pain, left in scars upon their house
They cover it with a mask of "happiness"
While their hearts are a hallowed place

Hurt is kind of like a broken bone
Even when yourself is the one to blame
You can always mend the physicality
But it's never quite the same

The Unlucky One

I always held my breath going over bridges
And clutched onto countless rabbits feet
Watching you from modest distances
Just wishing again that we would meet

And one night on a random Tuesday
Again my wildest dream was real
In the same bar we were drunk with love
And your heart was mine to steal

But all those pennies I threw in the well
And every birthday candle I ever blew
I tell you just how badly I want us to be together
And you reply "what the hell else is knew?"

Forever and Always

I had you in my grasp
We walked together hand in hand
But as time went on and I held tighter
You seeped through me just like sand

Time never stands quite as still
As it does when things come to the end
When you don't know how to end things
Do you never speak or remain a friend?

There doesn't seem to be that middle ground
Between confidants or nemeses
And so you walk through life knowing
That you're strangers who have memories
