Soldier of My Heart

All his bags are packed
It is almost time I know
Sobbing on his shoulder
I don't want to let him go

He takes me in his arms
One last time he hugs me tight
Promising he'll come home
Reasuring me I'll be alright

As he starts to walk away
He turns to me once more
Tears stream down my face
as I stand there at the door

I pray to God, keep him safe
tightly in your arms
Bring him home to me
Safe from all the harm

Forever is the length I'll wait
all the time we are apart
For I love him
The soldier of my heart

Memories

I look through pictures of old memories
Saddened that there will never be new
A lifetime of moments frozen in time
They are how I keep me with you

With photographs spread all around
One by one I hold them by hand
I close my eyes and am taken back
To the love of a wonderful man

It is then that I feel you, the world is at pause
It’s like your still here - I’m in awe
I see those deep blue eyes, your silver hair
And hear the sound of your soft southern drawl

You will always be my father
The man who helped my grow
One who had a hand in making me
The woman I wish you could know

People tell me they remember you most
For how much you loved me
They remind me I was your greatest joy
That I am your life’s legacy

I’ll forever carry you with me
Wherever I am, you will go
For you are a part of me, as I am of you
Dad, I will never let you go

Bitter sweet are my memories
For they remind me you have gone away
But to them I hold, with hope and love
To see you again one day…

Miracle of You

Here are my two hands,
so innocent and small.
To sit upon your dresser,
or hang upon your wall.

Each time that you see this,
feel my gentle touch.
Directly in your heart saying,
I love you mommy so much.

Look at me today,
I am a part of you.
Even just these little hands,
an image of you it's true.

Today I could give you presents,
and many other things you see.
But really the best that I can give,
to you mommy is me.

So Happy Birthday Mommy!
I hope all your dreams come true.
For I am blessed everyday,
by being the miracle of you.

When You Start To Miss Me

This pain is like a knife
Cutting deep into my heart
Slowly I see the light of life
Disappearing as I fall apart

As my smile disappears
I count my tears as they fall to the floor
My sobs realize my greatest fears
Of everything I've hidden inside and more

In the depths of every tear I cry
Escapes a memory of you
It doesn't matter how hard I try
I don't understand this that you do

How can I be worth less than a habit
This tears me apart inside
I've watched you turn into an addict
Caring less about the tears I've cried

I'm picking myself up off my knees
and wiping the tears from my eyes
I'm praying to God, guide me please
Give me strength and subside my cries

I am praying for you too dad
I hope you find your way
Please always remember that,
I love you come what may

Stronger Than Fear

My life is what I make it.
It is up for me to choose.
How do I want to live each day?
Do I want to win or loose?

I have learned many lessons
that have helped the way I see.
I've learned that if I want to be happy,
then the task is up to me.

So I'm finally letting go
of the memories that I've held.
The pain that has caused me aching,
and that hurt that made me dwell.

These scars that remain
only make me who I am.
They are a small reminder
to assure me that "I can".

Fear is what has held me down,
everytime I let it in.
So today I am giving myself the power
for this battle I must win.

I dust the past from my hands
as I wipe away my last tear.
Today I am proud of who I am,
because I am stronger than the fear.

Charm

Here I am tonight
Captivated by the thought of you
I am falling fast
In a love so deep and true

When you look at me
I see a spark in your eyes
A fire is now burning
And I hope you realize

The warmth of your smile
Simply melts my heart away
And in the silence as we stare
I hear everything you have to say

I become breathless
At your hands gentle touch
I can feel your love for me
I'm growing to need it so much

I want to become lost
In the embrace of your arms
For it is there that I feel safe
Protected from all harm

I can feel that you need me
As much as I need you
I can make you truly happy
If only you let me to

I believe that love is true
and I believe that love is strong
Let me prove to you
True love can't go wrong

Put your hand in mine
and let me in your heart
Let me love you darling
Until death do us part

Rolling On

I sit here at this dock and watch the waves continuously roll by.
The sun paints the water with its rays of light,
and soon covers it with an endless blanket of stars.
While I absorb my surroundings, I am suddenly reminded of life.
The luminous glow of the sun represents the blessings in our lives.
It magnificently reflects off the transparent water
as we often reflect off of each other.
Then, there is the night sky.
I view this darkness as the difficult times in our lives.
All of us have had to survive through hardships at one time or another.
However, thanks to the people that love us, we make it.
They are the shimmering glimpses of light; they are the stars.
Then, there is the rippling water, that is us.
No matter what life throws at us, may it be good or bad,
We keep rolling on...

Love Is

Love is a flower
With only one seed

Love is a team
Where two people lead

Love is a candle
With an everlasting flame

Love is being yourself
And having to show no shame

Love is a sunset
It is a brand new day

Love is unconditional
In every way

True love is rare
It is one of a kind

But the moment I met you
Love became mine

Perfect Love

If words could only tell
How much you mean to me
I would write to you forever
In hopes that it would be

Enough to tell you thank you
My mother, my best friend
But nothing I would ever say
Could make you understand

How fortunate I am
To have been blessed with you
You mean everything and more to me
There is nothing I wouldn’t do

When I was just a little girl
Blonde ringlets in my hair
I always knew without a doubt
That you would always be there

In good times and bad times
That’s what a mother does
You’re not there because you have to be
But there just because

Through every smile and every tear
One thing always stays the same
Your loving arms and gentle smile
Unconditional love remains

Look at me before you mom
I am you, you see
All the very best parts of you
Have been created into me

You raised your little girl
To be the woman before you now
And being an image of you
Truly makes me proud

In life it is no secret
That nothing is as rare
Nothing holds a candle to
The love a mother and child share

Something so great could only have been
Created by God’s hand above
Blessed are we, you and I
What a perfect love

Never Alone

Deep down inside of me
I continue to fall apart
With every breath I take
I feel each scar within my heart

The hurt is in my eyes
but I guess no one sees
How much what he does
Is bringing me to my knees

Each day when I get up
I paint a mask on my face
I dry my tears and add a smile
But the hurt I can't erase

I feel like I am lost and alone
Within the story of my own life
Everywhere I seem to turn
I find more pain like a knife

Now I have found myself
Knealing by my bed
I cradle my tear stained face
and these are the words I said

Dear God I am so afraid
Of my past and what will come next
I have tried to fight htis on my own
But failed at my own test

I am not as strong
As I had hoped to be
I am growing weary now
And pray that you will help me

I'm putting my faith into your hands
For I need you to carry me now
Help me find a reason to believe
Lord help me to be strong somehow

With you all things are possible
I continue to believe inside
And it is then that I can feel
Your wings wrap around me from behind

As a single tear falls down my face
In your arms I feel at home
I realize you were always with me
And I never was alone
