Soldier of My Heart

All his bags are packed
It is almost time I know
Sobbing on his shoulder
I don't want to let him go

He takes me in his arms
One last time he hugs me tight
Promising he'll come home
Reasuring me I'll be alright

As he starts to walk away
He turns to me once more
Tears stream down my face
as I stand there at the door

I pray to God, keep him safe
tightly in your arms
Bring him home to me
Safe from all the harm

Forever is the length I'll wait
all the time we are apart
For I love him
The soldier of my heart
