Love

Love

Love can feel like flying,
Soaring above the world below,
You feel unbreakable,
Like there’s nothing you don’t know.

Love can be quite shaky,
It can go up and down,
But when two people really care,
They choose to stick around.

Love can be unnerving,
Not sure where its going to lead,
But you think you have the answers,
Oh, that’s so naïve.

Love can be so painful,
It will likely make you cry,
When you approach a struggle,
Its always worth a try.

Love will break you to pieces,
When you lose your special one,
When it comes to purpose,
Youll feel like you have none.

Love will teach you lessons,
But will also leave a scar.
When you get your heart broken,
You learn more about who you are.

Red

She smiles when she's out,
Says her favorite colour is blue.
"it reminds me of the sea,"
"its the colour of my shoe"

Then she says its purple,
"its a beautiful colour,"
"imagine the pretty flowers"
They'd look like no other"

Then her sleeve slips up her arm,
revealing from where she bled,
and its in that very moment,
We see her favourite colour is red.

Dark Eyes

I used to be alone,
nobody to talk to.
Kept everything to myself.
Had a lot to work through.

then I got some friends,
they helped me for a while.
but eventually they stop to care.
They take away your smile.

I spoke to my parents once,
told them I was struggling.
But they said its all inside my head,
I can feel my troubles doubling.

I had to talk to a counselor,
it was hard to open up,
but when you work to get doors open,
its hard for them to shut.

the counselor told me to be patient,
"things get better over time"
even she said I was broken
I've gone way past my prime.

The priest said I was a kind young girl,
my parents sat and cried,
my friends said they should've noticed
the counselor said I should've tried.

Even when there's people there,
its hard for us to realize,
because when your in your darkest place,
you see through lonely eyes.

p.s. If you are struggling, please reach out. And if you know anyone that struggling, make sure they know you're there for them.

Serenity

Such a smooth motion,
the silver slowly moves,
right across my canvas wrist,
its peace that I choose.

The glass quickly empties,
my head starts to spin,
the alcohol makes me dizzy,
it feels like a win.

The smoke fades away,
drag after drag,
i know it isn't healthy,
but it makes me want to brag.

I swing at them again,
i'm not quite sure why,
the violence is peaceful,
i used to wish to die.

the self destructive actions,
they are not good for me,
but they are what keeps me here,
they make me feel free.

Her

It was nearly summer break,
We met as she bumped into me.
She fell and I helped her up,
That was only the beginning.

We spent summer together,
Being with her, it just felt right.
A thought invaded my mind,
I couldn’t help but think “Kiss her.”

It caught me off guard a bit,
Girls shouldn’t kiss other girls, right?
Wouldn’t that be a bit strange?
Maybe I have just drank too much.

Next time we were together,
I was stone cold sober, And still,
I leant in as my lips met hers,
In that moment, everything stopped.

I didn’t feel weird, or wrong,
It didn’t feel strange, or awkward,
It was perfect. So was she.
I wish it lasted forever.

Waiting

She's not long been heartbroken,
a four year long romance,
all to be ended in an instance,
she thought there was no chance,
that the one she loved would hurt her,
its part of the devils dance.

it hurts to see her hurting,
i wanna take it away,
to transfer all of her pain to me,
god, i wish there was a way,
for me to remove that burden,
so she can enjoy her day.

Her eyes sparkle like stars,
her hair is perfect curls,
she has the brain of a genius,
her beauty rare as pearls,
she deserves the princess treatment,
but she likes the wrong girls.

It could be impossible,
It could all be in my head,
i cant help but think of scenario's,
repeating everything she's said,
but I cant confess my feelings right now,
so ill keep it to myself instead.

It kills me not to be hers,
and i wish she could be mine,
but she needs time to heal,
and i know she just needs time.
Ill wait for her to find herself,
and until then I guess "I'm fine".

To My Parents

To My Parents:

I'm sorry.
I'm sorry I'm not the daughter you wanted.

I don't get straight a's,
but i try my best.
I don't clean my room,
in my only time to rest.
I don't love who I should
but I have a big heart.

I do every thing I can,
so i wont disappoint you,
but when I saw you only see the worst,
it was right then that I knew.

Even if I got straight A's,
it wouldn't make you proud.
Even if I cleaned my room,
You'd still lose me in a crowd.
And even if I loved a boy,
It still wouldn't be allowed.

I guess you'll never be happy,
with what your little girl is,
i wish you see me for who i was,
I wish it wasn't like this.

One Sided Lover

You said I fall in love too quickly,
and id have to say you're right.
Sometimes I just look in her eyes,
and everything feels right.

To me she's like cars to a road,
what the sand is to a shore,
to me she's not just a person,
she's much much more.

I keep it as a secret,
I wonder what they'd say.
Its quite a controversial story,
but without her all I see is grey.

She says were just friends,
those words cut me deep.
Its a classic one-sided love story,
I shall not say a peep.

It hurts more than normal,
to know they don't feel the same,
cause to me she is why flowers bloom,
but to her I'm just a name.

Family

As a child i was always told,
family is your blood,
they all protect each other,
they'll treat you good.

i defended my sisters,
if they got in trouble,
i thought our family,
that we all lived in a bubble.

My family used to make jokes,
i never understood,
but family always mean well.
so i laughed cause i thought i should.

But when i grew up,
they're comments made more sense,
they were not funny,
they were rude and meant with offense.

The topic of the jokes changed,
i became the scapegoat,
i was their new humor,
i swallowed the lump in my throat.

The jokes became more physical,
they started to bruise,
but my family love me,
surely its not abuse.

I spoke to some friends,
they made me realise,
family shouldn't do this,
Family shouldn't criticize.

that day i left,
i never went back.
because family doesn't mean who you share blood with,
family is who has your back.

Why

I cant help but ask why.
Why did she become my friend way back in year 12.
She was so funny, and kind, and perfect.
so perfect.
Why would she choose to spend time with me.
I wasn't fun.
I was quiet, and sad most of the time.
But she chose to stay with me.

A year has past and I'm still asking why.
Why did she kiss me after walking me home in the rain.
She's gorgeous and can get whoever she likes.
I've never met anyone like her.
She deserves the world,
and i will never understand why,
but in her eyes,
i am her world.
