Larry Mangold Poem
i met you in the springtime when the flowers were in bloom
and i knew yyou were my angel when you walked into the room
i knew that god had sent you down on the wings of a big white dove
just to be with only me and tto bring angelic love
our hands were ever so entwined and united were our hearts
we knew that we would walk together until death did we part
when sprringtime turned to summer we were happy as could be
and i just could not imagine all the love you had for me
now when summer turned to autumn and we felt the gentle breeze
i was ever so elated because you were still with me
but the time has turned the pages and i am so all alone
today god sent other angels just to guide my angel home

Larry Mangold Poem
one evening in the desert the moon began to glow
far off in the western sky the sun was sinking low
i looked out on the mesa and lo what did i see
lights of blue and yellow purple red and even green
i slowly started walking to see what i could see
the lights were getting closer then a voice called out to me
hello and sir how are you on this clear and summer night
we come from kuna dola just to see your earthly sights
he said please mr earthling now dont you tell a soul
that we were on the desert underneath the moonlights glow
i said dont worry kuna i will tell no one today
they would lock me up with loonies and throw the key away

i need a plan for a broken heart
please rush it today without delay
cause my whole world fell apart

Larry Mangold Poem
ive heard a lot of people say
they would like to be in my shoes today
they would like to go to work at the place called jeep
but let me tell you one thing son
it really is not too much fun
because in here you sow more than you reap
you work from dawn to setting sun
the work day here is never done
you work until your back and feet are sore
after a long and hectic day
you cant go out and even play
your body just wont take it anymore
so if you think it is your quirk
to come to jeep and go to work
where you will almost surely get the blues
and you think it will be fun
then let me tell you one thing son
come to jeep and you can fill my shoes

Larry Mangold Poem
mama took sick one day i remember
it got so bad she just could not go on
then mama she died on the 10th of september
and floated to heaven in the pretty beyond
she walks streets of gold and thru fields of flowers
one thing i know is that shes not alone
shes gone and left this old world of sorrows
she traded this life for her heavenly home
she left this old world of suffering and sorrow
then she climbed aboard that glory bound train
then in the twilight of the great new tomorrow
mama was seen there in gods great domain
shes walking those hills and shouting in glory
saying praise god im here to stay evermore
then she seemed to say oh family dont worry
im saving a place for you on heavens shore
tho mama is gone we never are slighted
because her memory is here evermore
one of these days we will all be united
up there with mama on gods golden shore

Larry Mangold Poem
when i was a lad about thirteen twas the prettiest town you,ve ever seen
you could go downtown late at night and see the shimmer of glimmering lights
that was a long long time ago the lights were lit on theatre row
not much to see now after dark just seagate center and promenade park
now do you think that you and i could do one thing before we die
do you think we could restore the beauty that was here before
lets take the banks from the middlegrounds bring the theaters back downtown
put some inexspensive eaterys back bring back places like tiedtkes and jacks
our city fathers sure must see how great it was for you and me
had lots of folks come to our door in this city on the maumee shore
folks would come from miles around to see the beauty we had found
yes we used to wear a golden crown right here in toledo town

Larry Mangold Poem
i remember the time on a cold winters day
when i was called home from school
dad told me mom that youd passed away
and his heart was crying for you
we all cried a lot on that day mom
me and dad and sister sal
some say it seems like yesterday
to me it seems like a thousand days of hell
dad took to drinking a lot after you left
and he couldnt even hold up his head
it even got worse just a while ago
when he learned that sister was dead
it was a little too much for his poor heart
and he couldnt carry on that way
you better save him a spot in heaven with you
because dad just up and died today
now im coming too i cant carry on
momma save a sweet spot for me

Larry Mangold Poem
i was surfing on the web one winter day
when a flash of light came across my way
i looked at the tv and lo and behold
stood a green eyed figure all dressed in gold
he said now son why did you call me
from down in the bottom of your old tv
i stay down there when the nights get cold
said the green eyed figure all dressed in gold
i said my man you are a heck of a sight
where,d you come from in the middle of the night
he said i come from a place far away
but ive been here for many a day
he said let me tell you one thing my friend
you better not bother me ever again
i might get mad and then you will see
that you wont have no old tv
with a tip of his hat he said goodnight
in the wink of an eye he was out of sight
then i heard him laughing real soft and low
that green eyed figure all dressed in gold
i havent seen the fella since i dont know when
and i dont know if i,ll ever see him again
i will be surfing for sure when the nights get cold
for the green eyed figure all dressed in gold

Larry Mangold Poem
the river seemed to wind forever amongst the golden trees
the sunshine made a lazy day amid the autumn breeze
the green of mountains up above cascading streams below
thats how the autumns used to be on nights so long ago
there was such beauty in the land with blue grey skies above
you could here waters buff the sand and robins sing of love
i heard a whipperwill cry low a dove sent back the call
a bluejay perched upon a bough i thought he would surely fall
down by the river where i would go to spend some time at night
i would watch the twinkling of a star till it went out of sight
so much to view at setting sun a beauty to behold
the silence of an autumn night back in the days of old

Larry Mangold Poem
when the roses have all faded and the grapes have left the vines
and the bitterness of years long past have caught you out of line
will you gladly look ahead into the coming years
or will you hide your teardrops in your whiskey wine and beer
when all is gone and nothings left the devil takes a hold
he will burn the fires of living hell way down into your soul
he will take you down upon the skids in lonliness and fear
to hide your bitter teardrops in your whiskey wine and beer
i know for i had fallen down as low as man could go
then god lent a helping hand the devil left my soul
jesus christ he reached out and caught me as i fell
you too can have this life instead of whiskey wine and hell
