Father

you've never been the best thing since sliced bread
your presence always felt like hell
you being around in the house felt like being tossed in satan's fire
i'd listen in on your conversations with mother
with you lying through your teeth
swearing to not beat her again
the next day you'd come home drunk
saying corrosive words
so much that mother would run to neighbours for help
we would spend time skating on thin ice
trying to not bruise your ego and get burnt
with nowhere to run to
nowhere to run from your obnoxious self
nowhere to hide from your monstrous ethics
mom always justified your way
love convinced her that maybe you'd change
but unfortunately for us, you were a leopard
i applaud you
for you ate all our hopes and dreams of having our own families
while you were acting holy and nice to others
you forgot to be a divine being to your blood

I Love You

You have changed me entirely.
I remain attracted to you,
 even on stormy weathers.
It was always about what I felt for you,
over what was in front of me.
I ignored the red flags hoping,
you would realise how much it hurt and change.
I love you.
But whenever has a leopard changed its spots?
I sidelined my feelings,
 for the relationship to continue.
I am emotionally bruised,
 but it is whatever because,
I love you.
I would take anything you threw my way,
as long as we remained together.
People advised me to leave.
You convinced me I am nothing,
without you and so I believed.
I love you.
The thought of not being with you irked me so bad.
Rather cut off those I knew before
 to accommodate you.
If they are trying to tell me,
you are bad for me.
I would rather tell them how being with you,
 hurt so good.
How used to the abuse I have become.
And how I do not know,
 I would survive without that.
I love you.

Life Would Be Boring Without You

sometimes i sit and wonder
are you blind or are you plainly just a beautiful person
with all my flaws and imperfections
you love me unconditionally

my mind sometimes needs an explanation
from the heart to elucidate how someone can be loved so effortlessly
the heart finds itself choked up sometimes there
failing to find the words

every second i am with you i feel reborn
like a just born baby is cherished even when all they do is cry
accepted with all my flaws and imperfections
you comfort me purposefully

i roam everyday with this warmth in my heart
but i think when we are together we are perfect
that every part of my being is enamoured for you
i am obsessed with how you make me feel

Your Love Is Mine

My favourite word to hear is your name.
My favourite thing to see is your smile because I live for you to be happy.
Your eyes are my favourite feature to look at, there I am reminded of how much your presence enables me to be better daily.
The sound of your voice is like a sweet melody to me, it makes my anxiety dormant.
My heart had a vacant space that you filled instantly with your awesomeness.
Your arms are my favourite place to be, because there I am assured of security.
Your love is my escape from the world.

Lover

As weakening as the sleep paralysis
You creep in unexpectedly
Making me weak everytime

Your words makes everything seem superfluous
Making me think I've not been alive till now
Your sweet tongue tames me

Your sultry eyes ignites a fire in my heart
Making my heart soft as the fur of a chinchilla
Sending shivers down my spine everytime

Your love rubs off on me
One could swear it's notoriously contagious
Because I've learnt from you
How to be a sweetheart

A Snake In My House

i welcomed you into my life, into my life.
not aware that i would soon turn into your victim.
the constant persistence
always wanting things to go your way.
soon turned me into your punching bag whenever i disputed.
i worked very hard for our betterment.
you felt inferior.
and had to constantly hurt me so you would feel like 'the big guy'
your smooth tongue and recurring beatings
forced me to submit to you.
at the expense of my life unfortunately.

The Extra Mile

All that while I thought we had a common goal.
To relive each other from past angst
to protect each other's hearts
all that while I aborted my babies because YOU were not ready.
I wanted to be worthy of you.
By allowing to be a pushover
all that while you were body shaming me every time we went out.
I yearned for your approval all-day
that I forgot the real ME
all that while I saw YOU starting to be distant,
I loved you still.
I tried being spontaneous to avoid YOU getting bored with me.
all that while I had to constantly lie about how I got my bruises.
I was scared of being without YOU,
that I would break my back defending you.
All that while I heard rumours that you were cheating on me,
YOU said my friends were jealous of us.
YOU told me to cut them off.
So, you would have the ability and chance to abuse me in all ways possible freely.
and I was blind to that because I misunderstood being used with love.
