Wings, gifted to him.
Tools of freedom and one’s end.
Follow instructions.

Sara J Poem
The whisper carried with it a promise.
Carried with it a lie.
Wrapped up in beautiful words and lilting syllables.
Who was to say it was true?
Who to plead the case for its falsehood?
It was hard to tell with her.
You knew you couldn’t trust a thing that came from her mouth.
And yet you wanted nothing more than to believe her.
Gorgeous women make the best liars.
They make the best of everything.

Lime zest rests on tabletops
Sunlight streaming in

Would you stay with me?
Just for a moment, just one.
So I can pretend.

Feeling good right now.
Sunlight finds me everywhere.
Keeping things upbeat.

Sara J Poem
Lies drip off my lips like honey.
Whilst the truth struggles to clamber up my airway.
It often gets stuck somewhere between my throat and my mouth.
Never to see the light of day.
Falsehoods come much easier.
They behave as my constant companions.
Support for my throne of fabrication,
Which teeters in the breeze.

Sun chariot passing by
Ancient dreams greet me.

Sand on my bare feet.
A smile graces my blushed face.

Sara J Poem
Produce stand stops for fresh strawberries.
Nowhere to put them but your car.
Summer heat creeping through the glass.
The berries are wilting in the floorboard.
Unbeknownst to you.
Wilting like your love.
Unbeknownst to me.

Sara J Poem
Pain is a strange thing.
Each one of us dances with it differently.
It touches everyone’s hand the same way,
Yet some feel it breeze past and others are left with fractured fingers.
I have experienced many dealings with pain
I’m often fearful I’ve gone numb to it.
Whilst my brother cries over a dripping nose,
my body is wrapped in scars, my spine embraces metal.
These joints, these muscles are so saturated with pain.
I feel they will simply flee with the passing wind.
Dust.
Only the dust remains.
Dust.
Along with agony.
