It was hard to tell with her.

And yet you wanted nothing more than to believe her.

Lies drip off my lips like honey.
Whilst the truth struggles to clamber up my airway.
It often gets stuck somewhere between my throat and my mouth.
Never to see the light of day.
Falsehoods come much easier.
They behave as my constant companions.

Which teeters in the breeze.

Sand on my bare feet.
A smile graces my blushed face.
Waves caress the shore

Produce stand stops for fresh strawberries.
Nowhere to put them but your car.
Summer heat creeping through the glass.
The berries are wilting in the floorboard.
Unbeknownst to you.
Wilting like your love.

Melancholy Sea

The waves and the shore.
A tragedy as old as creation.
Fated to never part,
yet never be together.
The land is immovable,
 in the same place until the world caves in.
While the ocean can never stay still,
never know the peace of repose.
The two are trapped in this timeless dance.
Always touching.
Always within reach.
But never able to be held, nor to hold.
A curse as old as the earth itself.

Lazy Afternoon

Strawberry daylight
Sun streaming through window sills
Bathing in the warmth
