Mother's Day

Mother's Day
is another day
of mourning
for me and my soul.

Lullabies and Goodbyes

**Dedicated to the one I love the most**

Give me your hand before we cross the street
wait, let me bend down to fix your laces.
I'll hold your hand while you look up at me
your fourth birthday, and a cake to put your face in.
The monsters under your bed, don't worry
they can't exist when mommy saves the day.
Your homework should be done in a hurry
that way you and I have time to play.
I'll watch your dreams as you sleep on my chest
and make sure with all my heart they come true.
I'll wipe your tears and then try my best
to reassure that you can reach the moon.
But to know it is nothing more than a dream
as all promises died the day you left me.

Kodak Moment

I had dinner with a king
as we spent all night drinking
                                     in each other's weakness
along with his conscious and my deepness
existing in a balance so keen.

                              We've conceived in the evening
                                     a mindset so eloquent
                               understanding that we are the
                              equivalent to each other's thing.
                                 The cleansing retreat of this
piece of my peace is a clear ecstasy
                                 clinging freely on our wings.

                                       And even this hook
                                    doesn't feel like enough
                            while overdosing with slightest crush
                                 blushing at the tightest hugs.
Feel like it can't be too much
and yes, I might be a bit caught up
                                  into what we have going
even if it's only for a kodak moment.

I was content with the time spent
as we ascend past bottomless ends.
                                   Mutually glowing while
                          complimenting each other's flowing
                                going in deep and showing
the ugly truth, the scars, the rough stuff,
the tears, the pain, the lost loves.

                         Your presence protecting my energy
as you feed the queen in me.
                             Blessing me ever so sweetly
                            with words beyond powerful
                                so enchanting, so healing
                                 nothing short of magical.

But please then, with no warning
don't leave me in the deep in
to drown in our mutual attraction
that just so happened to happen
                               that one wonderful evening.

My Sister's Keeper

Image there is no tomorrow, imagine that I would not see your face. The reality is that you were already journeying from this place. Behind those deep, heavy eyes, we've now ran out of time and ran into our temporary goodbyes. But my sister, let us hold fast the memories of that radiant smile and strong soul, as we ready your wings as we prepare to let you go. So goodbye: goodbye to the tears, goodbye to the unknown, to the hospital beds, goodbye to the pain that has grown. This grief won't leave, but the days will get light, understanding that you did win your fight. Just know we love you deep, and the hurt is deeper, I'll journey through life forever my sister's keeper.

Sanctuary

Let me go/let me be/let me retreat to my sanctuary/ of thoughts so powerful they collide/past my anxious brown eyes/past the seeing blind/bending time/as there's really no end/there's really no beginning/there's really no fill in/there's really no deep end worth feeling/as I try healing/ and bringing life to the four corners of my mind/that's outright out of it's mind/practically hard to unwind/to rewind/to recite/to rewrite/to invite/to sit tight/but my mind is mine to get lost in/when I begin/crawling to my sanctum, my peace/my therapy/the place where I get back all of me

Hold Onto Your World

Hold onto your world little girl
and please don't kill the butterflies.
Remain sweet when society taste bitter
and keep that light in your mind.
Forget the nonsense of self-violence,
because your eyes didn't vision your worth yet.
Your days as a Goddess will surpass
those days absent as a princess.
Even if mama and daddy don't see it,
you have to value the art you are.
Once you forgive them and yourself,
freedom will come along and kiss those scars.
Your words will cover you, hovering you
over places your wings didn't dare go,
and honestly the sight of your soul from
here is incredible and magical.
The self-staring contest in the mirror
you will finally win because understanding
the standard of beauty was never bound to skin.
You have years before those who leave
bitter kisses and bruised lips arrive.
You've got to hold on for dear life,
don't look down and don't open your eyes.
Just know you'll come out of this alive.
All you've got is right now, so you've got to
hold on and don't forget your way home.

Again-Circa 2013

****Dedicated to my bestie and those late nights and early mornings filled with turbulent tears and triumphant takeaways from early lessons and heartbreaks****

Here I am again, coming to my end. Again, and again, and again. Same face, same lips, same eyes. Same kisses, same promises and the same dressed up lies. Always falling for this type. Can't stop what had to unwind "No, no, it'll be different this time", but then again, that's always been the line. Are we dealing with a man with a hindered heartbeat? Same smile, same talk, same gravity. Same worries, same tears, and the same hurting. Round and around and around and around. Thought I was clear to take flight off the ground. That was until it all came tumbling down. Unravelling these truths out, you stayed quiet, while those lies got loud. Broken smiles, broken kisses, broken things. Broken promises, broken soul, broken wings. I got caught up again this time, for a pair of faithless brown eyes. With reassuring lips and calm words, you told me this wasn't going to hurt, not like this. I tried to steer clear of all the signs, trying to avoid it, I ended up getting hit. Falling head first, the fault not yours this time, but mine. No tears, no hurt, no more being down. No love, no loss, and no love allowed.

She Is

She is
                                   Strong woman
                                     Grow woman
Ancient one with my soul woman

                                        She is
                                    Muse woman
                                    Blues woman
                             Not to be subdued woman

                                        She is
                                  Sweet woman
                                   Deep woman
I am more than a Queen woman

                                        She is
                                     Life woman
                                    Wise woman
                          Living in her birthright woman

                                        She is
                                    Star woman
                                   Charm woman
                            As sacred as Ishtar woman

                                       She is
                                Immense woman
                              Consistent woman
                              In all of her essence
                                 She is wombman
