Thanksgiving Blessings

The table is set
Surrounded by family
Happiness is near
The first time in a long time
I feel no longer alone

Maybe

So just maybe
For once in my life
I am right where I need to be
Because here with you
I know
I will always be safe

New Beginnings

The leaves have fallen
The weather has turned cool
A fresh start for everything
Even me and you

Last season was hard
Full of desperation and despair
Loneliness
That made me question if you were even out there

It is scary
Not knowing what will or won't be
But as I stand next to you on this cool autumn night
I am grateful that I have you beside me

You help me forget the past
The dreadful winter I once had
When all I ever felt was alone
Being with you brings me peace
You feel like home

The leaves have fallen
The weather has turned cool
And as I look into your eyes tonight
I now know
It was always meant to be you

My Life

Life is so vast
Too many details to remember
But in one flash
I am able to see it all

I see my family
My sweet parents
Cheering me on in my best times
My beautiful sisters
Holding me through my worst nights
My brother
Making me laugh until I cried

I see my friends
There with me through each phase
Reminding me of how beautiful life can be
If you just let go

I see the man who broke me
The night he made me feel so worthless
And the many nights that followed
Leading to my self destruction

When this image is shown
I desperately want to look away
But thank God I didn't
For the next chapter
Will always be my favorite

Hiding beneath the shadows
I see the man who saved me
Finding my broken pieces scattered on the floor
He picked me up
Piece by piece
And restored me once again

For as my flashback ends
I see myself in a new light
A strong, beautiful woman
Who has learned that even the darkest
Most painful nights
Can turn into some of the brightest
Most beautiful
Triumphant mornings

Broken

How that night haunts my mind
Splat
My heart fell to the floor
I'm sure you loved it
Having control over me
Verbally tearing me apart
The crash that happened when our emotions met
Boom
Bang
You broke my heart that night
You broke me
For even when I try to forget
Your words appear in my brain
Like an unwanted
Unneeded
Unexpected guest
That wont go away
Knock Knock
I tell them to leave
But those words
Your words
Are stuck with me
Forever.

One Day

One day
The stars will align
And the hard times will all make sense
Please
Don't sell yourself short
Of the blessings to come

My Advice

I must admit
I don't know much
But there is one thing
That I have learned
I learned it's okay
It's okay to leave
It is okay to give up on him
Once his raised voice pierces your heart
Once his lies linger in the air
Suffocating you slowly
Most importantly, beautiful
It's okay to let go
Once you start losing yourself
In order to please him

For once this was me
And that night I should've left
Yet... I chose to stay.

Silent

Silent
Please
I cant take it anymore
The thoughts
The memories
I want them all gone
I'm chained to my past
Unable to break free
I beg and plead
Struggle and fight
But I'm not allowed to leave
Have I not done my time?
Oh please God, just let me forget
My previous self
My mistakes
Him.
Let me forget him.
Because how awful would it be
To lose the best part of my life
Because of a man
From the past

My Wish

Snow is falling
Family is near
What a wonderful experience
To simply be here

But this year
I have only one wish
It is simply
To be
And to not wish
For anything to change

Thankful

When this year started
I was lost
Running tirelessly through the night
Wondering
If I would ever be enough

You came in
Without warning
You picked up my broken pieces
And mended me together
You helped me find myself again
And I will forever be grateful

God has given me many blessings
But this year
I am most thankful for you
