Rebecca Streets Poem
I wish you would
take a breath; exhale,
let the knots in your
stomach untangle;
let us see you unravel,
all of you.
There is no shame in
letting us love you,
letting us love
all of you.

Rebecca Streets Poem
The more I let go of
these tiresome soul struggles,
the should haves,
the should bes,
the more it is possible,
to be messy and
alive.

Rebecca Streets Poem
With you, this veil spreads
across my face like ice.
Cheeks stiffen, aching
lips pressed together
white as lies.
I hold back words so
they are cooled, blank,
before I free them.
Alone, when I dance,
face soft and my heart burns
in my cheeks; pure
gold, yellow, red —
why can’t I show you this?

Rebecca Streets Poem
I call it purring when it’s convenient
to me — the soft, gentle sound of you asleep.
But in the middle of the night, with your
nostrils roaring and me, wide awake,
is when I call it
snoring.

Rebecca Streets Poem
It’s so easy to slip into the numbness,
of this handheld drug, scroll
myself away.
Lately, I’ve slipped so far, so deep,
into blissful emptiness, I’ve lost
myself, my way.
