Drew Davis Poem
Oh fear, where have you gone?
You once brought me comfort and safety, as I remained in mediocrity.
12 times I fought you, 11 times I failed. I brushed myself off and faced you again, again, again, again…
You were a worthy adversary to say the least, but yet a better trainer. You’ve raised up a beast.
There is nothing that can stop me. There is nothing stronger than my will to succeed. Every hurdle I face is only another challenge to beat.
Like a warrior with his blade, my sword has no sheath to stay. Daily I hone my craft, preparing my foes to slay.
And as my blade glistens with your blood and you’ve tasted defeat, the sweat of my brow drips down in victory.
My dear sweet fear, before me you will kneel down to one knee. Though I’ve loved your embrace, perhaps it is you who should fear me.
