there is a ray of light
in everybodys life
for some it is a husband
for others it is a wife
for some it is their children
some are high on life
no matter where they find it
their light it gives them hope
as long as they still have it
day after day they cope.

i wonder as i sit here
night after sleepless night
why can't i sleep like they do
so peaceful and serene
maybe it is because
their conscious is still clean
my dreams they are a nightmare
that seem so very real
and so i'd rather not sleep
than dream the pain i feel.

love is something that
we all do search for
we need to find that someone
that one we can adore
then we think we find them
and they break our heart
now we must start over
and don't know where to start
how then do we do it
put it back together
for there is no guide book
on making hearts feel better.

i feel like a lost soul
drifting thru this life
how will i overcome it
all the struggle and strife
i fight a battle each day
deep within my head
many times i lose it
and inside i feel dead
emotions feelings or care
are things that i don't feel
this makes me ever wonder
what is really real.

when you'd sit and hold me
i thought that it was true
i started thinking daily
that maybe it was you
i started thinking daily
that our love was true
so i made my big decision
to give it all to you
i gave my heart my mind
my body and my soul
showing you my true love
was my only goal
but you took advantage
of all that i gave
now our love is something
that we cannot save.
