I Love You

“I love you”
But did you?
Or did you love those sweet words I whispered in your ear,
The way I made you feel special.
You can say you love me;
But before you close your eyes at night,
What was your last thought?
Was it the way I laughed when you told a joke?
Or my smile?
Is it my body?
Is it how I made you feel wanted in this lonely world?
I don't know if I believe you loved me,
We just broke up and you're already happy with her.
It makes me doubt the words you said to me,
If they were real…
or a way to play with my heart.
I told you when you moved on I'd be happy for you,
I just didn't think you'd move on so soon.
I thought I'd have time to get over you before I saw you with her.
Two days after we broke up and you already replaced my picture.
I cried and cried and wondered what she had that I didn't.
Maybe it was the distance,
She was close and I was far,
But I thought we could've worked it out.
I know you say I hurt you,
But you hurt me in a way I just can't describe.
You told me that you loved me
But it's so hard to believe that you love me when you run to her.

The Things I Want To Tell You

There are so many things that I want to tell you...
I wanna tell you I'm getting back the feeling of security.
I wanna tell you that i'm happy,
I wanna tell you I've been moving on and thinking of you less,
But you already moved on and you’re happy.
And how fast you moved on hurt me more than you will know,
But it makes me happy that you did it first
And that is why I never texted you to tell you how I missed you,
Because you're happy.
I know the thought of me probably never pops up in your mind
And I've accepted that now.
I know you don't believe me but,
I've been so grateful that you are happy with her.
At first I wished that was us but now I am glad she could love you in the way i never could.
I wanna tell you all that I've done since we have parted.
I know you have big plans for your life,
And I used to think that I would be there to help you accomplish them.
But I guess I will watch from a distance and cheer you on from afar.
I wanna tell you that you've changed me for the better,
I cry a little less and smile a little more.
And you may not understand why,
But it's going to take me some time to forgive you.
Because before I can do that,
Before I can just forgive and forget,
I must learn to forgive myself for the mistakes I made.
I wanna tell you that someday in the far off future we could be friends,
But I have a lot of growing up to do and I can't be anything more than a stranger that you once knew.
I wanna tell you i have learned to love you from afar and move on from us,
Move on to the next chapter in my life.

Can You See the Stars

In this big dark world,
All I can think about is the stars.
Every star is a burning ball of fire,
Every fire is a passion.
This passion that burns through you,
It makes you shine.

In this world all I can think about is the stars.
Not the celebrities you see on TV,
But the ones in our lives.
The people who you have been to hell and back with,
The person who you know is going to change the world,
And the person who changed your world.

When you look at the stars, what do you see?
Do you see the brightness in this dark world,
or do you only see the darkness with specs of light that are eventually gone.
But what you don’t know is they are never gone,
Sometimes those little specs seem gone and so far away.
But what you don't know is they are never gone,
They are just hidden but those little specs will always come back.

The closer you get,
the better you can see them.
Away from the city up on the highest mountain,
You can see the colors in the night sky.
You can see the brightness the stars bring into this dark world.
If you could see the stars the way I do you’d think of them too.

Rainstorm

Falling for you is like a rainstorm,
A little at a time and then it all came crashing in.
And we were so happy because of the rain.
We laughed and splashed around in puddles.
We were like kids in a candy store,
So excited and in our own world.
It was simply the most beautiful thing.
But when the rain got mixed with the wind,
Things started to break and the power went out.
And just as the rain started a sprinkle with a smile,
It ended with tears and some screams.
But even after the storm we still saw a rainbow.
And maybe the next storm we will remember,
It will pass and we will be okay.
