Ohio Walk

walking through the dark alley
my cigarette lights the way
I follow the trail
of all the cigarettes I've left before
I'm reminded of my past;
how I look back with love,
and remember with fondness
I realize
I must cherish the present
with this same fondness.
For when the past was present,
I did not have this love for it, either.

In Plain Sight

In plain sight,
I capture the first glance
of a boy who once was a stranger.
A stranger I’ve known many lifetimes.
my mind can always
take me to this look
It lives fondly in my memories.
I have known it many lifetimes.

In my bed I hold a boy,
overwhelmed , frightened, misunderstood.
In my arms his fears melt away;
He has known them many lifetimes.
Overnight,
I saw him become a man-
one who has never been a stranger.

In plain sight, another world begins.
Through the glass door, the clouds are melting
My angels open the sky for me
Precious pink and warm orange
paint themselves
above the cascading waves of our ocean
My life has been so much better
Seeing heaven everyday

This love has been gifted by the stars.
we have known it many lifetimes.

Beyond the Shore

I never knew how deep Oceans were,
I've spent most of my life
watching from the sand

to watch with curiosity is unbearable

Deny, deny, deny.

the Water is too cold, I tell myself,
the Water will pull you under
Riptides know mercy for no man.

to watch with desire is agony

Deny,deny,deny

the water will eat you alive,
the water will swallow you whole.
Sharks are circling. And you,
my darling,
are draped in blood.

I couldn't notice the shore
closing in on me.
Too busy watching the waves.
the sun was setting
and I was out of time.

Waded in gently
Lost all senses
when I could no longer
feel the floor.
Painful familiarity slipped away
And all I had
was uncertainty

I know that it sits somewhere underneath me.
But the bottom seems
endless.

I'm scared
but face first
I dive into the deep.

Your love waits for me there.

My Krowka

far away in the kitchen
the sound can be heard
of my fairies coming out to play
they clatter the plates in the pantry
and splash under the leaky faucet
ecstatic to be unsupervised once more

hiding away in the bedroom
I lay
my problems tucked in next to me,
they keep me awake.
my sadness sits in my krowka.

Voorhies Avenue

I dream of a time when it was raining.
skies draped in sheets of nighttime
I'm hiding...
barefoot I feel the sensation
of the chills sent up my spine
by the cold windowsill.
the lights on the streets blurred
the pavement glimmered
what was once dull, grey concrete
turned into a shining black sea.
