Inevitably

Day old coffee
in its maker
a cold witness
sometimes
to broken dreams
and war stories
and proclamations
of
getting well
of
new beginnings
of
hearty hope.

Solemn stories and
cloudy memories
and Joe
laughter’s echo
at some obscure
joke but
the window
knows
how schemes get
distorted
deformed
disfigured.

Some have just
flown that way
inevitably
some do go
without ceremony
without fanfare
no hoopla
simply vanish
and all that’s left
are
empty seats
empty room
empty maker
waiting for
the next batch
of sunshine.

Spit Forth Guts

Oh the venom on these lips
cold fury should you
taste it there. Drink
deep my gathering gloom
quench your thirst for
my lies and my truths
and my muted thoughts.

Stand still frozen dead
in pools of wonder and
dread for this poison
that seeps into your
pores will not soon
leave the haunted spaces
your frightened places
there will be myriad traces
where it killed the
wonder it found in your
dull and dreary mind.

Choke on toxic thoughts
vomit my musings and
spit forth guts colored
black with doubt and
fear and torment stain
the ground with your
loosened purpose your
pathetic beliefs that
words are always intentions
of the noble and righteous.

Ruminations

Don’t call Moses a liar he was much more than that
There are no sands of time just time and sand
(and not enough of either in this land)
Just one way is one too many ways skin a cat.

Peter denied Jesus thrice and he still got a booking
Space is hurling through us not the other way around
Don’t look for the Arc it’s…just stop looking
(it will never be found).

Better to not be a fly on the wall lest disaster strikes
The Sun doesn’t set never sets it’s on the other side
(something none of us really likes)
Lollipops don’t pop no matter how you’ve tried.

The Titans are still pissed over losing the war
(and they are gunning for revenge)
When rain falls its not f'ing tears its more
Pyramids weren’t built by people nor Stonehenge.

Man has designs on woman and it will always be
The rib wants home the home wants another rib
(don’t ask me)
Marriage is indentured servitude for the glib.

While we’re at it love: ill-fated concept for mammals
A tree falls you’re not there it still makes a sound
(quite a shambles)
And yes the egg came before the chicken was around.

This is your mind this is drugs now what to do?
(so many choices so little time)
If she has that look in her eye who is defining you?
And thus endeth this unplanned rhyme.

In Soft Tongues

You think fields are so lovely? You think as this snow falls furious that it will give up its words to the likes of you? It would just go speak to you in soft tongues ones that you alone you only would be able to hear? No loud lies no chance will the snow speak to or utter to you than would mighty Zeus himself hasten swift down and offer bolts of lightning of which were long dreamt of there was an eternity of need.

Listless Gaze

transfixed
I stumble down
shifting halls of
my angst my
distress
a cold stale breath
stagnates and permeates
its doom
onto my essence.

beguiled
I entomb myself
in the moment
asphyxiating
flailing
clawing
grasping for
desperately
disintegrating walls.

abdicated
I capitulate to
the lair
that cold cavity
pit of dread
that
pool of tears
where my devotion
thrashes plangently.

interred
in the filth
of want
of need
of putrefying wonder
entombed within
every pore
every inch
of my desolation.

moribund
I turn to stone
my listless gaze
fixated ruefully
on the luminance
the far distant
light
where steadfast
dim hope resides.

Beauty's Cache

Therein lies your beauty
testify to me no longer
of dandelions and daffodils
of butterflies and bumblebees
do not chant as crows
beyond sight scatter
then gather
in frigid naked trees
diseased with
discord
disaffection
malfeasance.

The recompense for
transgressions
lays waste to beauty’s cache
of finery
of magnificence
of splendor
do not disgorge sorrows
breathlessly
from your heaving chest
that conclave of muted
dreams vague and dreary
do not yearn
for lovely things
that
evade you
elude you
avoid you.

Talk then of
gnarled paths
overgrown with weeds
and thick brush
and rotting moss
sing soft melancholies
into indifferent airs
scatter
your tributes breathlessly
entreat this soul
to yearn ache desire
for hues of sustenance
those colors
those images
those portraits
of secret truth
lying in wait
for the impact
of despair
dismay
distress.

Therein lies your beauty
your truth
and your essence
yet do not brave
the chasm for
it is conquered
it is besieged
it is occupied
by forlorn sages
aching to know
what chance their hopes had
from casting dreams
and illusions
and secrets
undetected
into blackened pools
of wonder.

Even dread Beelzebub
hot with rage
blindly jealous
with furious hatred
ravenous for vengeance
who rose from putrid ashes
who rose from rancid death
who rose from deadly hell
fiercely intent on doom
is but feeble
and infirm
for scarcely could he
barely could he
set ablaze
reign terror
wreak havoc
on one tenth of
the thousand worlds
within this volatile
and eremitic imagination.

In My Mind

Down falls fast the frozen rain
chills the air with my disdain
on my heart it leaves a stain
yet in my mind you remain.

I drift and fade think of you
try to bring you into view
draw a color paint a hue
fixing on what lovers do.

It’s falling fast all around
again the din and its sound
try to keep the peace I found
as it thunders to the ground.

In my mind we’re at this shore
life with you and wanting more
seagulls screeching fly and soar
mixing with the ocean’s score.

Never no never have we been
lovers as such and in between
within my mind yet barely seen
under the rain near the ravine.

From Mystic Sands

Come my beloved
rest long within
the ethereal reaches
of my haven
within my sanctuary
rest your wickedly disconsolate
mind and so lay in repose
absolve yourself in shadows
cast for you
renew yourself in
the mist of my creation.

Crush me with your suffering
and your broken dreams
and your histories and your
deadliest deceptions
those cunning slayers of
all your hopes
so as I cast spells from
my dying contemplations
my terrible meditations
far West
I can obliterate them
annihilate their affect
vanquish their theme.

Envelope me in your angst
in your sorrow and your grief
as I lay dying
behind black embers
buried in the debris
of my decaying magic
ignite my cold conjurings
into vivid imaginations
into vibrant vagrancies
impress upon me
your utter depravities!

Suffocate me with
your inglorious sufferings
that I might ever
fixate on them
ruminate their demise
fashion my incantations
while I sleep
in the furthest
reaches of my
dread desolate world
while I sleep
in my secret realm
that ancient city
forged from mystic sands
which drift far and wide
far beyond the sphere of
creations glorious cosmos.

Universe Destructed

I’d annihilate
the ascending sun
from the sky

incinerate the
eremitic moon
beyond recognition

eradicate
each and every
constellation from its
galaxy

decimate every
planet one
at
a
time

if I believed
that it would
give you one
instant of
respite

from the
savages gorging
on your essence.

Exhausted

I have hushed voices in my head
they say the things I’ve always said
they echo loudly thus keeping me
from finding my own calm poetry.

I need respite from all of this
can’t even find my happiness
I know he’s crying hiding pain
haunting me again and again.

Torturing me they suffocate
my joy I’ve lost and subjugate
a thousand voices so unclear
escaping reality and their fear.

A few sweet things keep me sane
I return to them again and again
to drink their joy and to taste
the essence of them but in haste.

Fearing majesty just might go
and back to hell my soul to sow
the thoughts that fuel my misery
swallow me whole indiscriminately.

I have these voices in my head
from all the things I’ve ever said
funny though there does still reign
joyous feelings in my heart remain.
