Emmanuel Liadi Poem
They have slept with their fathers
Shall we seek for revenge?
Even the emotions could no longer contain our sisters
All we sing now is dirge.
I could hear the wailing of infants and cry of women
the sound of swords clanging and shouting of men
Everywhere... I see darkness
Death! like we had no fortress
Shall we seek for revenge?
... All we sing now is dirge!
They have slept with their fathers
Left their children and wives
Shall we seek for revenge?
who will console our mothers?
When will grateful tears well up in our eyes ?
All we sing now is dirge.
How long shall we fold our arms or fight for peace?
When will the deafening and raging battle cease ?
Shall we seek for revenge?
... All we sing now is dirge!

Emmanuel Liadi Poem
I've walked a thousand mile
To loves' land
I've read the pages' file
To take her by the hand
Still dreaming of walking down the isle
And dancing to the band
What is love ? … I ask
Take off your mask
And I'll show you.
So....
Take me to your heart
Like a sheep to the slaughter
Your kiss will capture my heart
One way or another.

Emmanuel Liadi Poem
Who shall restore our land's dignity
When plundered by thieves
Who frolic about in the corridors of power
How shall we escape
From the lashes of history?
'How can the captives be delivered from the mighty'?
When engulfed by malodorous ambassadors
Who like rodents eat up the nation's trust.
How shall we escape
From the lashes of history?

Emmanuel Liadi Poem
Today is another day
We match
Like every other day
In fight for our lives.
We prayed and sang songs
Chant our anthem
#EndSars
And say no to other forms of sars
Never knew it's gon' become a dirge.
We were happy to stand for what's right
Never knew we'll not see the night.
Beckoned on my brothers
To come on board
He was happy to hold the flag
Flag was soaked in blood.
As darkness enshrouded the scene
On the sudden appearance of the military
We became frightened
And livid
We watched helplessly.
Rivers of blood
The sky weeps in anguish.
A thousand voice heard I at once
Stop the massacre!
We're bleeding!
Bleeding from holes in our hearts
Holes from bullets
Bullets in the head of our heroes
Heroes whose only crime
was demanding for a better life
Life that is meant to be sweet
But bitter and battered for so long
Long enough to threaten our existence
Existence that should be of essence
... Stop the massacre!

Emmanuel Liadi Poem
Wash us our stain
Heal us oh God
And send down thy rain
We pray
... Amen !
For ground swallows our flesh
The wind blows into air, our spirit
Our families mourn all day
Our tears caress our bruised hearts
As we silently walk away
Our families mourn all day
Dear farther in heaven
We are tired of mourning
Make earth a safe haven
And your sun shines on us in the morning
... Amen !

Emmanuel Liadi Poem
I held on to my past
That should never have last
Flashes of life's horror
Running through my head
As I stood in front of a broken mirror
...I can't comprehend.
I began to bleed
From the things I should have get rid.
My spirit almost gave up
No one to give a head up
I kept nailing myself in pain
Hoping for a sunshine and rain.
I had no strength
when the sky was grey
But I shift focus
From that which cause me pain
So I can see clearly
...the rays
Of sunshine
That will brighten my days.

Emmanuel Liadi Poem
Ode to the fallen heroes
Who left their all
When duty call
Glanced at victory
At the expense of of their lives
Living children and wives
To restore honor and glory.
They fell with their faces with the foes.
They performed their duty diligently
Remember to honor them with dignity.
Ode to the fallen heroes
Who seemed out of battle have escaped
Through some profound dull tunnel
Long since scooped.
No longer mingle with their laughing comrades
Nor talk of their battle escapades
Neither sit at familiar tables at home
They sleep beyond the soil foam.
They fell with their faces with the foes.
They performed their duty diligently
Remember to honor them with dignity.

Emmanuel Liadi Poem
A tapestry of strength, a vibrant hue ,
On women's Day, our hearts sing true.
From dawn's soft blush to twilight's gleam,
A legacy of courage, a powerful dream.
For every hand that guides , and every voice that rings
For wisdom shared, and joy that springs.
Through trials faced, and battles won,
A spirit shines, like morning sun.
With every step, a path they pave,
For future blooms, the world to save.
So let's rise, with hearts ablaze,
And honor women, in countless ways.
For strength and grace, and boundless love ,
A gift bestowed , from realms above.
On women's Day, we celebrate,
The power within, that seals our fate.

Emmanuel Liadi Poem
My hand thus move swiftly
On the canvas
Like a speed of light.
Paints...splattered on my shirt
From mere color pallet
My brush sweeping softly.
How would you paint me?
... She asked
A silhouette of dark and light
As we hold each other tight
Draw you close and make you mine
With a brush so light and fine.
I'll sketch your lips in shaded tone
Your love to match my own.
