Nontombi Khambule Poem
Innocence
It sees my innocence
I felt it in its touch
gripped harder on my shoulder
quivering, beat on pause.
Eyes piercing through my soul
It sees my innocence
standing near the door
pulling back
harder
tighter
it gripped on
locked door. man on the floor
tears bore drowning in rage
it sees my innocence
it stares each second
it opens and slide into heaven
sharing a tale about my yoni
and like ungreased wheels
I screeched
jammed on the rail
I froze
He’s love aches
Oh my Lwazi I hope you never break.

Nontombi Khambule Poem
IN A PERFECT WORLD!
What one can only but wish to be her reality
A lit tunnel of happiness
Eyes glistening on her melanin
Cocoa-butter one with its bud
Like Eve I knew you are complete as I am of your flesh
No treason,
The garden of Eden yet to be pruned
What one can only wish….
That her tears baptise in matrimony
Water seeds and bring joy
Gas ball of triumph
THE SUN
It will lead us to never dark days
Nights forever warm
And time for-ever still
Ageing like fine wine
We’ll have our roots threading through vines
Holding on tight never saying goodbyes
Yes!
There will be loadshedding, where the day freezes, time moves and all we’ll have is the moon.
But like day and night
Black and white
All I’ll have
We will have
Is
You
And
I.

Nontombi Khambule Poem
HER WISH….
To strip its last dignity have it bare and hopeless
longing for warmth. The sun rays to kiss its soma burn its soul leaving nothing but a
ghost clothed with shame regret and loss.
Loss of life, touch and breath. Its meandering spirit reaching the ocean drowning in raging waves.
Her nostalgic waves of high tide tears, a rift valley of good hope trespassed by the Atlantic.
Her wish. To forget as she’s’ forgiven. Devote herself to the seed: feel its innocence and not paint the clear sky with darkness with no stars and the moon to give hope.
Her wish. To restore her mind, not binge to an episode of treachery.
Her wish. The erase the dismay of Sabbath: the night of rest turned into infinite restlessness.
